B12 Service Question

Hi Guys,

I have an Acura TL 2006 with 24k miles and I am from Northern VA. The maintenance minder just indicated B12 service due. Called the dealer and got quoted for $350 just for the service ($140 for B, $30 for 1, $180 for 2) and said it might cost extra for the parts!!

I previously got for B1 service at 12K and now just after another additional 12K B12!!

Does it cost that much!! Do you know any other dealers in DV/VA/MD area who charge less?? Please advise.

Thanks in advance,

RK

I have an 06 that I just had this service done on for $226 out the door including synthectic oil. I live in California but look at shops specializing in Acuras, they have to do it cheaper than the dealer. I think the service was $170 Labor and $56 in parts. Just an Air filter for the engine and cabin plus an oil change with tire rotation.

Save yourself some $$$$. get an oil change, tire rotation and if 6MT< parking brake adjusted. Then walk over to the parts dept and get a cabin air filter and engine air filter, total should be 40 buxs for both filters. Come back home with filters and install yourself. It is very simple, there are a bunch of DIY's on the board complete with pictures. Save yourself the 150 in labor.

Didn't we have a whole thread by Jetjock recently where everyone posted different labor rates? I highly doubt the rates for labor and/or service are the same across the board.

You are defiantly right about this, I called two local MN dealers and they were charging 174.00 and 194.00 respectively for a B1.

I called local Honda, and they quoted me 111.00 for the same deal.

I just called another dealer in VA (25 miles away -- which is not bad) and they quoted the $169.00 (including parts) for the B12 service!! Not sure if this is a bluff to quote less and charge more later! Hmmmmmmmm!

Sorry for previous post...got a little excited I guess....I called them back to confirm the price and the previous rep got me wrong for just B1. Now the B12, they are quoting $246 + tax + some $10 for parts shop.

How do we adjust the parking brake on our cars?

I had a B12 service done on my 06 TL, last month, and ever since my dash board, behind the glove compartment, has been squeeking or making a chirping sound. Why would this be happening? Would it be caused by the dealer taking the dash board apart to install a new cabin filter?

I intend to take the car back to the dealer to let them know about it and have them try to fix it, but I want to know what I'm talking about.

Thanks

Most likely they replaced your cabin air filter. Replacing the cabin air filter requires removal of the glove box which is the area you are hearing noises from. Take it back to Acura and have it looked at - or save yourself the time and take 30 min your garage and take it apart to make sure everything is good.
