B1 Maint. + Air Cond. Maint. $300?!?
Hi guys,
I think I'm being ripped off. Acura TL type S, 19000 miles on it. I came in to the dealer this morning for scheduled B1 maintenance and they want to charge me $300. They are saying that the B1 is $99 and the air cond maint. is another $200.
What do you think?
Do I even need the air cond. maint? And does it make sense that it's so expensive?
Appreciate your thoughts.

A/C maintenance? WTF is that?
Tell them you just want the B1 service and that's it.

$99 for B1 isn't even good considering what you get... Another $200 for this so called AC service is BS unless your AC has issues - does it??
- I assume maybe they want to change your AC / cabin air filter?? But $200 for that process is even a severe stretch ($20 filter and maybe 30 minutes of labor - Acura techs brag of 15 minutes)...
- Do not let them touch the AC system unless it has issues. Some dealers will suggest an AC service to "top-off" the refrigerant. This can be pure BS. In your case it would be warranty regardless.
Not that I do, (I never take my cars to the dealer for this type of service...) but I would just ask for an oil change, tire rotation and nothing else. Shouldn't be more than $60.
As you are obviously doing - continue to question everything your dealer tells you. Most will be inflated in cost and typically not required at the given time - if at all.....
