"B" Service Due Soon

The B service is an oil change and tire rotation. All the other stuff is things they are supposed to check anyway during the oil change, so it should run you about $25-30 each for the oil change and the tire rotation. Some people have been charged $100-150, which is a lot of extra money to visually look around under the car.
If you can do your own oil change and rotation, you would save a bunch and have the satisfaction of knowing it was done right.
Check out the 3G Garage for some good info on oil changes and maintenance.

Ron is so right, even my dealer which I keep in contact just to let them know who I am, say that (based on them knowing me as far as being a mechanically inclined tight wad) you save tons of money just doing it yourself...BTW has anyone had their LED go out on their driver side heater switch?...mine went and not to hijack the thread I'm having it looked at when I should have had my B Service done...but ..the B service has been done by your's trully..... so this is warranty work...and I want them to look at my leather as well and see if I can get a new cushion for the driver side...

Check with family, friends and coworkers to see if they have a trustworthy independent garage or mechanic that specializes in Honda/Acura; that will probably save you at least 30% on future work compared to charges by dealers.

$420? Not a bad deal if they did the whole 30K service. (Oil/Filter Change; Coolant/Transmission/Brake Fluid Change; A/C and Engine Air Filter; tire rotation/rebalance and brake inspection)

what did they do for this 30K mile service? I have taken my car to them and they always go by what the MID says, they dont dont and didnt try to sell me anything but what my car said it needed.

They did the whole deal, and for what they did, it wasn't a horrible price, plus I love this dealership, on my last TL (04 AT non-navi) they saw that my brakes were going at around 35k miles, so they warrantied me 4 new pads, shoes and rotars, saved me over a grand, so I'm gonna keep going back to them (plus they gave me the 06 RL as a loaner car, can't really go wrong with that)

So I could take my car in and say that it is pulling alittle and if the rotors are warped they will service it under warranty? Not hypothetical......it is pulling alittle
by the way I'm at 25k

I just paid $129 for first B service.
They're supposed to check and top off all fluids. Well, they did not top off the washer fluid, However, they charged me over $4.00 for the washer fluid. Ironic that they over-charge for washer fluid, which they do not add to the vehicle!
Rip-off.

Crap, I had my B service done yesterday and almost flipped at the cost of it!! It was $220. I don't even know what they did?!?! They told me that they didn't do the tire rotation because of "lack of tread" on my tires. So, what else do they do?
When I paid for it, the service lady did not give me an itemized copy of what they do so I called for it and they said they would mail it to me. I don't remember even getting the first itemized copy of what they did when I took my TL there for the first time.
So, if anyone has a list or a link of what they do, could you PM it to me? Honestly, I don't think they did a very good job. IF the brakes are included, then, yes, they didn't do a good job. Mine are still squeaking and they didn't tell me I needed new ones.
BTW, I went to Acura of Portland here in Oregon. And I was there for 2 freakin hours!!!
Will I ever have to do that "B" service again? I think it's a bunch of BS for all that money!

If your service people did not rotate your tires and did not give you percentages of brake wear remaining, front and rear, 1) you did not receive a "B" service, 2) you were overcharged and 3) I wouldn't trust anything not on paper, i.e. get the itemized invoice.
This means I would check the oil to make sure it is clean and actually was changed, then go back and get a refund for the work that wasn't done.

forgive me for being obtuse, but I bought a slightly used, certified, '05 TL a few months ago and have around 13,500 miles. I just took it to a Valvoline quick-change for the oil change / tire rotation... Am I now banned from ever posting on this board again? I can see going to a certified Acura service department for the big service milestones, but $100+ for an oil change and tire rotation??

Look at it this way-- you saved $1500 on this visit since the dealer didn't sell you 4 new rotors along with brake pads, brake fluid, etc...
See if someone can recommend a good independent Honda/Acura garage or tuning shop (which can do regular maintenance) to you so you get a fair deal on maintenance, which the dealer does not seem to have given you this time.

I need to make a schedule for next week so that they can address my B service as well. I usually bring in my own oil and that brings the price down a bit.

After I returned home from the oil change I realized that I didn't get the invoice of what they did exactly so I called and told them about it. The service repair man told me that they lady that took my money should've gave me a copy. Since she didn't he said that they would mail it to me. Yeah, I agree though, I've never seen the "in the mail" business either.
To have proof of what they did exactly to my car, where should I take it? (to have someone check all the fluids and whatever else needs to be checked) Maybe to a Jiffy Lube or to the other Acura dealer here in the Portland area - Ron Tonkin Acura? I've never really liked Acura of Portland, because of the lack of service and they are kinda rude to me, but they are alot closer to me than Ron Tonkin.
I need to learn how to do my own oil change!!!

I called my dealer and the B service is $115!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Since i changed the oil myself, I asked the dealer what they charge for just a tire rotation...and they charge $50...is that ridiculous or what????
Sears charges $13 - or maybe i will attempt to do this myself too...

13 bucks isn't too bad.
If you rotate yourself it's a good time to clean the wheels since you have access to the backside. Just make sure you re-torque the wheel lugs the following day.
