B Service

My '04 5AT has almost 50K and is due for a B Service. I copied this handy list from a post a while back, and was wondering if all the inspections listed are really necessary.

The reason I'm asking is that I need only an oil change and I'd rather not go to the stealership to have it done (have new tires that aren't due to be rotated yet). However if the other stuff should be done, I guess I will bring the car in to them:

Maintenance Minder B Scheduled Maintenance -
Replace engine oil and oil filter
Rotate tires
Inspect front and rear brakes
Check parking brake adjustment
Inspect tie rod ends, steering gear box, and boots
Inspect suspension components
Inspect driveshaft boots
Inspect brake hoses and lines (including ABS)
Inspect all fluid levels and condition of fluids
Inspect exhaust system
Inspect fuel lines and connections

Thanks!

IMHO- just do the oil change since you have new tires.

I had my B service pop up at about 42k miles and just did the oil change cus I had new tires.

I don't know how much the full B service is but I imagined it was way overpriced for what I really needed.

For the most part "inspect" means "look at"; You can "look at" most of that stuff yourself. Look for leaks, unusual signs of wear, torn/worn boots, etc.

Many places include a "24-point" inspection WITH an oil change. If they charge you, it's a rip-off.

Go to where your MID displays the percentage left for "service due". Hold down the RESET button (r/s of steering wheel) for 10 seconds. When it asks to verify, push it again, and your MID is reset.
