Automatic to Sport Shift

Hello. I was wondering, when you are driving is it bad to switch from Automatic to Automatic Sport Shift, and vise versa? The car is moving, and you switch it while your driving. Thanks.

Nope. No problem. The car just stays in whatever gear it was (very often 5th) and you SS from there.

You can go the other way too: SS to Auto at any time. Just slap the gear knob to the right and forget it.

the SS is kinda safe to use in any situation. As long as you dont downshift too rough. it shouldn't be a problem.

It wont even let you downshift too rough. The engine and tranny are designed to not hurt themselves lol. I dont think theres anything stock that you can do that will probably mess it up.

if anything, you are just going to end up wasting gas at the most and induce speeding tickets.

True..
If you dont change gears, it will just keep bouncing off the rev limiter (fuel cutoff) until you upshift.
If you try to downshift while in high RPMs, it wont let you.
If you try to upshift without being at a certain speed it wont let you. ( I think this is for 4th and 5th gear only though.)

It is on all gears, but 04-06 won't allow you to go into first gear, but 07's will to my knowledge.

At a stand still, I think you can upshift to atleast 3rd gear.
07s will keep in 1st (redlining) until you upshift.

Yeah, the '07 has a second gear start option when in SS. Put in 2nd while stopped and it'll start there and stay there until you either up or down shift.

Nice in parking lots/garages or for start in snow.

And, as mentioned before, the '07's will hold 1st gear until you up shift. The previous models would decide for you when to shift up to 2nd. The only to get them to "hold" 1st gear was to give it WOT and push 1st toward the redline.
