the manual tells you that you can program the lights to go off after a set time but why dont they come on automatically? if they do from what setting does this occur?

If you leave the light switch in the on positon they will shut off at the set time and come back on when you start the car again.

If you leave it on, it will turn off when you press the alarm or after the pre-set timer. It will automatically turn on when you press the key fob to unlock the doors.

I like that it allows you to set different times. I am surprised that they didn't have a sensor that could be turned on or off so during the day they stay off and at dusk turn on. I miss that from my last car.

I like being able to decide when/if the lights come on. Personally, I always leave them on day or night, but I like making that decision.
