Auto windows - intermittent problems

Here's the problem: There's been a couple of times where the automatic up/down function on the windows doesn't work. Once, it was both windows. They go up and down on command, but they don't utilize the automatic function to fully close or open the window.

This problem went away, only to resurface yesterday. Now, the passenger window has lost the auto functionality. Driver's side is okay.

Looking to see if anyone else has experienced this problem. Hopefully there may be an easy fix, but if not I'll have to hassle with taking the car back to get a little warranty work.

It's probably just a bad control module. It's the first time I've seen it here in the forum. The dealer should be able to take care of it for you in no time. Good luck.

My driver's side went out a few days ago. Would not go up or down automatically, hand to hold it. The passenger side was fine. I closed the driver's side window all the way and it started working again. I have not be able to reproduce the problem, so I have not talked to Acura about it. Let me know what happens with yours.

Are you holding the button down for too long?

I had this problem. Took it to the Acura dealer and apparently this was a known issue with some early 2004 TL's. They repalced a part and everything has been fine the last 3 months.

I thought I remembered my salesman saying that if that everhappened, then I needed to raise it all the way up (holding it) and hold for ~2 secs once closed. Repeat while opening.

Apparently the module that controls the auto-up/down can forget where fully up/fully down is and you have to re-teach it.

jdb8805 et. al. :

After reading the post about 'memorizing' the functions (holding the buttons down), I called the local dealership and talked w/ the service department. They said that this was true - you should hold the button 'up' until the window is all the way up and hold it for a couple of seconds. Then do the same on the down function. This should fix the problem.

I haven't gone out to the car to test it, but it sounds promising.

This is what I like about this innernet thingy (TL.com). I may have saved a trip to the dealership.

Thanks for the help everyone. Time to go have fun this weekend. Cleaning some of the carbon off those pistons with a little WOT.
