auto matching revs on upshifts

Chadr posted in the "features you have found" thread about the way the engine rpm drops between upshifts and pauses at exactly the correct speed for the next gear. It works and is great for smooooth upshifts. The only problem is that it holds that magic rpm only for about a second or so...and takes a second or so to drop to that level....so you need to adjust the timing of releasing the clutch to fall correctly in the time period when the revs are matched. For me that means a more relaxed slow shift from gear to gear.

I have not found anything in the manual about this.

Since the computer is doing this (drive by wire technology), I wish that they had taken it a step further and provided the same "service" on downshifts...I am good at matching revs, but it could be perfect every time, and the whole process could be quicker. The seq. manual transmissions in BMWs can snap off a perfectly timed and matched shift in way way less than a second.

A computer can learn, and by monitoring your shifting for a spell could figure out the timing so that up and down shifting would be seamless. Of course we take pride in driving smoothly with no clutch friction surface wear, so maybe we don't need it....?
