Hi i was in dekalb county of GA and i saw ppl driving with blue light under there car soo i turn mine on and driver. this cop pull me over and give me a ticket today i call and ask how much they say $666.00 i was like WHY DONT HELL U GUY ARRESS ME THEN. is there a way i can fight back

I don't know, but I also thought it was illegal in Texas, but last night some dude in a truck was driving around with green lights underneath and nothing happened when we passed by a cop....

only blue and red are illegal because those are the police light bar colours. Don't think there is a way to fight the actual ticket, but you could probably bring the price down.

I remember when I was in college, I had LED Underbody light kit, that could be changed to literally ANY color. I had White running accidently as soon as I pulled onto campus got pulled over, cop let me go with a warning, saying that ANY underbody light is illegal while driving.

But 666?!!! Gawd Damn!! They think we made of money?! Shiet, tell him "My money tree still has not bloomed yet" hahahaha...

Sorrry that happened though, and trust me you dont wanna get arrested thats even worse, i was arrested once and NEVER AGAIN!!!

 

Dude go to the court date. Talk to the DA/Asst DA and ask for a reduction. See what you can get.

If nothing acceptable, tell them you need a continuance to retain counsel. Then go get a lawyer.

 

That is a stiff fine for such a mild violation. You are not endangering anyone's life with those lights. Hell, it is cheaper to run a red light and that is endangering others' lives.

i think the law was that you can not have them on while car is in motion, but you can have them on while parked. bascially for show only. Blue and Red are illegal cuz of cops and emergency vehicals.

Is it just me or is the way the citation is written (as scanned anyway) it would appear as if you were cited for running blue lights on the car that can be interpreted as imitating a police officer. If I were you I'd take a picture or some proof that the "blue lights" are actually underneath the car and not on top, in front, behind, or anywhere that may even give anyone the impression that you are a police car. Also if you wanna take it a step further, take the lights off your car completely (I'm not sure how often you use them) or bring a picture of them off the car and go to court saying that you no longer have them and hopefully the whole thing can get thrown out.

though I don't agree with your attitude, you might have a defense if you explain that your lights were not flashing nor revolving like a police officers would be. I have a feeling they're going to nail you no matter what though, simply because you were running blue lights and not some other color.

Just be glad you didn't get pulled over near Savannah, GA - the fine there is $1000 !

The law was enacted a few years ago to stop the 'fake cops' from legally having blue lights.
Also, Dekalb cops are very aggressive. 12 or 13 seperate police shooting last year.

 

My advice, and I am not a lawyer, but I have had allot of tickets for allot of crazy stuff,
Go to court, plead not guilty. Be calm and cool. More often then not they will not trial your case that day. You'll get another date which will give you time to get your defense together.
Find out what the actual wording of 40-8-90 and see if you can beat it.

huh, i don't think so it is DULUTH off duty cop shot a Fulton county cop. The duluth off duty cop is locked up and he is a nut.
