I agree that it's better than the Z1 and DW-1 and I would run it in my own car with no worries.

However, it's not a "full synthetic", that's just marketing. It's mostly grpIII highly refined oil. They can legally call it a synthetic but don't forget, Exxon Mobil sued against calling a grp III a synthetic, lost the lawsuit, and began calling their grp III oils synthetic and carrying the synthetic pricing over. Amsoil calls their grpIII oils dino oils and their grp IV oils synthetic even though legally they could call both synthetic.

Universal fluids are considered a bad thing by some people. It doesn't matter in our case, we only need a fluid that works with our transmission whether it will work in 40 other transmissions or only ours. The truth of the matter is it's a fluid with an average viscosit and a DexIII FM package so just like any other DexIII-like fluid (and there are a ton of them) it will work in just about any automatic transmission.

API certified means very little these days. Some oils are not certified because they carry too much anti wear additives. I've torn engines down that have been run on a non API certified oil their whole life and they're the only ones I've ever opened up that showed zero or near zero wear.

There are other fluids that have a better base oil (a true full synthetic GrpV), lower NOACK, higher HTHS, no VIIs, more EP additives, a better friction modifier, and will withstand higher temperatures without oxidation. The price may be higher for these fluids but IMO it's worth it.

We have one very well respected user that switched from Mobil One to Redline and his results were very positive and are posted on this board.

I don't know why everyone makes ordering fluid such a big deal. You know when you have a change coming up. Order it a week in advance and you don't even have to leave your house to get it. I have enough to do one oil change and one transmission fluid change just in case by some chance I can't order any. I just ordered a different type of fluid on Friday because I will be working on both cars next weekend. I had to work this weekend so it didn't cost me any time.

I'm not trying to argue, Mobil One is fine in our transmissions but it's certainly not the best.

Dangles, it sounds easy to me and I have the 22mm ready and waiting. As soon as I get the all the parts and fluid I plan to do all of it at one time.

Same would be fine. I bought mine from acuraoemparts dot com. They're an Acura dealership based in Florida.

 

I don't know if they're a vendor here or not, though. Maybe try the other first since they're a vendor here for sure.

 

OEM filter for atf is fine, some remove it, and put an external inline filter in. I have stayed with OEM for now. It's ~$10. Both the vendor I mentioned and Dangles mentioned are vendors here.

Are the pressure switches a issue in 08 type s as well? Just wondering if I should do this when I get my car.

Also what are the thoughts on doing a type f and d6 blend. Doing a 3x3 doing the first waiting 1k then doing the next waiting 1k and doing the last. Car has almost 90k

I was in your same position a few weeks back. +1 for dw1 at lengthened intervals till your reach 3x3. I'm doing mine every oil change (8000kms). Doing another 3x3 50,000kms afterwards as a routine schedule if I still have it.

I just finished my last 1x3 (Redline Lightweight, Redline Racing, Redline D4) and did the pressure switches as well. One thing to note is that at 115k miles, my ATF filter was DISINTEGRATED. When we pulled it out, it was in pieces. I'm not sure if these are supposed to be lifetime items, but definitely replace them.

 

Based on what?
