Aspec bodykit or J-pipe

I'm sort of conflicted on this one. I really, really, really want the A-Spec bodykit but after reading ParaSurfer1979's thread on J-pipes I really want that too. What should I do?

What would you guys get?

Ummm...aspec 1 billion percent. You will love the jpipe, but after 2 weeks of driving it you'll be used to it and you won't be able to see it
The aspec changes the car entirely...and i mean every time you pull up to foot locker or piggly wiggly you'll look back at your car and feel like you made a great choice.

Easy decision, j-pipe. I'm not a fan of the a-spec kit though. J-pipe is the best bang for your buck performance mod for the TL. Get the RV-6 V3. Its the latest and greatest.

wow...right down the middle.

I sometimes wonder, if you could snap your fingers and go right back to stock and put all the modding money into a bank account...would you do it?

...me either

Do you plan on getting the catback exhaust anytime soon? If not definitely get the aspec.

That's why I'm so torn. Cheap performance mod or exterior aesthetics? I wish I never read that thread

Nate, how much would the catback exhaust cost? What are the HP/torque gains?

Supr-welcome to Acurazine. If this is your first mod, I highly suggest the Aspec Kit. Many people want their car to look great first. You're still in the honeymoon stage with your TL. I don't know if you've got a Base TL or a Type S. So if you're REALLY in to performance though, definitely go J-pipe.

Hey Steve, I have a Base '07 TL. I bought the car last July and it was a non-navi. My first "mod" was adding the navigation system. I had Martin do it for me and I love it. Next was the LED conversion inside and out. The rides I see on this site are killing me (and my pockets). I also added Nokya 6000K fogs. I really want my ride to be unique.

I'd be happier with the A-Spec.

The base ATLP exhaust cost around $1200 new, or you could check the black market, they go for around $700-$900. Not sure of the gains, but you can find some dyne sheets from original ATLP threads when the exhaust first came out.

Nice! Obviously, you're going for aesthetic mods-do the Aspec Kit.

Looks vs. performance. Always a debate!

I'm personally more of a performance guy.

No TL is complete without the lip kit! Regular TL's are all over the place...kitted TL's stand out from the crowd.

i say aspec and then do all the exhaust mods (cat-back,j-pipe,PCDs) right around the same time. but if honestly you want a change in look AND performance i say get coilovers before either! you will love them.

Good choice. Eventually the other things will come so it's a win-win situation whichever way you look at it.
