I'm curently leasing an '02 CLS before I go to my dealer Saturday, I'm intrested in knowing what others are paying for their leases.
Also how long are your terms?

I got a quote for 6-sp NAV, $0 down $485 a month. That's working with a price of $34,000 for the whole package. Some people have gotten the TL for as little as $32,000 but those were one-of-a-kind deals where the dealer was "stuck" with a 6-speed car and wanted to get rid of it quickly. You won't get a 6-speed for less than $33,750 these days.
i went 42/mth 15K a year O cap on my 02 745i, and I was mad at myself for going 42. But, at the time, the difference between 36 and 42 month was substantial. They were offering .0019MF and mine was almost fully loaded. so it figured out to 1160/mth for 42 mths...was a pretty good deal!!

But in recent years 42-48 month leases have become more common and more sensible financially. (Not that leasing makes ANY financial sense, but that's besides the point.) Warranties are now routinely 48 months, and provided you choose a model like the TL that holds its value longer, a 42-48 month lease still yields much lower payments than buying.
I still lease for 36 months because I have no patience for a car after that. I realize it's a luxury to do so, not a financially smart move. But 48 month leases nowadays aren't the stupid thing they used to be.
Leases longer than 48 months, which I've seen occasionally, remain stupid.

48 months is not an ideal lease term for a couple of reasons
1) You will likely be beyond your warranty
2) Big ticket items, such as tires may need to be replaced.
Plus in a 48 mo lease at $450 /mo the last year you are paying $450/mo for a 3+yr old car. Lastly paying interest/rate factor on sales taxes is ???, pay those up front. If you car is totaled/stolen you will get the taxes back.
Because NY requires a liability policy from the lease owner, it may be cheaper to go with a balloon paymet plan, check out both and compare

1) You will likely NOT be beyond your warranty as long as you keep your miles reasonable. And after all, leasing is a terrible idea for anyone who puts lots of miles on their car.
2) Tires and brakes are the ONLY "big-ticket" items that might need to be replaced which the warranty wouldn't cover, but if you buy a car you also have to replace the tires and brakes eventually.
Plus if you finance your purchase of a car, in the last year you are paying $450/mo (or whatever) for a 3 or 4 year old car. In other words, that argument holds no water - it's the same whether you lease or buy, because cars depreciate in value over time.
Bottom line - we've already established that leasing is not financially sound. But nowadays 48 months is probably not any worse in the long run than 36 months, for those who prefer a lower monthly payment.

Blue book values charge .17 cents per mile (owned car) vs .15 cents (typically) on a lease, so actually it costs more per mile to own a car, if you put over 12k per yr on it. Paying for mileage up front on a lease (.08 cents typically) is the smart play.
I would rather pay $450/mo during that 4th yr on a newly leased car. Not sure who would rather pay for a 3yr old car vs a new car ?

A. "HAL" needs to get a grip. Sorry you had to pay thousands of $ down for the same payment we "leeses" are paying.

WDP/parchment, 5AT, No nav, protection package - 51 months/ 12k per year, 2k down, 439 per month. I didn't worry about the long term because the car is covered under warranty virtually the whole time.
my lease deal
walked into a local dealership last night and they had athr./ebony/6-sp/navi (the car I've been looking for) in on the lot. After a lot of negotiation I got this deal: 36 months, 15,000 miles per year $3k down. I pick the car up in 6.5 hours.
