anyway to clean the inside of the headlight?
anyway to clean the inside of the headlight?
my driver side headlight was replaced bc of an accident but it doesnt match the otherside. the original headlight from my 04tl has some dust inside it and when the headlamp is on, it causes a shadow to appear on the inside of the lens cover and looks dirty.
is there a way to clean the inside?

is it a different housing and new bulb on one side-?
Or somehow dirt got inside a completly sealed lens, and the back access to the bulb has a O ring on it!!!
No moisture- no dirt allowed
1 new bulb will be a different color and output-

before you open up the headlights, try taking out the DRL or fog bulbs and use air compressor to blow air inside that opening....
try that before you decide to open up the headlights.

let me try to explain better. the original headlight case (the plastic you can touch with your hand in front of the car) has dust on the inside. this causes the light from the bulb to make a blur or a shadow on the inside of the plastic housing.
the new headlight that was just replaced is clear and clean and does not cause any shadows to appear. it also seems as if the new headlight has a brighter blue color to it and the old one looks purplish. any reason for this? age?
also, there is NO mositure that occurs inside the hosuing. so i guess the seal is tight but how could dust particles get in there? the headlight was never touched and the bulbs were never replaced.
i guess ill try the compressed air trick through the fog light first b.c i dont want to risk damaging the light. but that will just move the dirt around and not clean it so i might hve to open it

Are you sure there's not a haze on the outside of the old headlight? It can be wetsanded and buffed. I don't see how dirt could have gotten inside the assembly since it's sealed.
