If you can get it for $33,000 then that's an awesome deal... Haven't seen anyone post that price on this site yet... At least not in SoCal. Please post your info on the 3G TL Owners Sign In... thread once you purchase so we know what you paid.

If you want to form a Group Buy or a Power Buy, the dealer must contact smitty for approval. Once it is approved, you will be permitted to post a link here to the main thread posted in the Group Buy forum.
We don't mind if people post that they got a good deal, and name the dealer and even the salesman, in this forum, but we cannot allow you to organize a Group Buy or a Power Buy until the dealer has been approved by smitty/
Please, no more talk about Group Buy or Power Buy or the entire thread will have to be deleted.

If you are really serious about getting this car, let me know how many people want a great deal. The reason why I am getting this price is because I know these guys. I have a broker and a dealer guy who’s on my side to make this happen. I am currently going to purchase 05’ TL 5AT, Navi, and 05’ MDX, w/o the Navi. One of the reason is they want to cut into their profit to sell both car. I happen to want the SSM/Ebony which is freakin’ hard to get. Dealer said, they would hook us up in a group buy for sure. Last price I got was $33,000 with the Pkg. My broker quoted me for $33,500. Let the fight began.
One of the reasons why I am getting the car in Middle of January is “more inventories.” They buy at a lower bulk price to get more over head. Beside, you also have to count gas price is going back up in January.
Let me know how many of you want this. Buying or leasing. If you want this deal, I think they want at least $300 for deposit at the time of order.

I'm in too.
(Not a power buy or group discount, because that's not allowed. But I figure we could all go together and get one, kind of like how girls go to the bathroom together.)
Gotta be by the 5th of Jan to get the 2.9% financing. I'm in Fountain Valley, let me know.
Can we ask smitty for permission?

Huh? sorry to ask, but who is smitty?
If you felt that I was doing a group buy, I am sorry. I am not a sales person or related to anyone in Acura dealer/broker.
What do you mean when you say dealer has been approved by smitty?
I haven't named any dealer.
Did I do something wrong?

A Group Buy, or Power Buy, is exactly what you were proposing. This is where you get a bunch of people together in order to get a better price from the dealer. We are all in favor of our members saving money and getting the best deal possible, but we also have to consider the fact that by allowing you to do this on the forum, we are giving that dealer free advertising privileges.
If the dealer wants to participate in this buy, he has to contact smitty and arrange for advertising fees to be paid.
You didn’t do anything wrong, yet, and that is why I stopped it where I did. You also didn’t know you were going to do something wrong, so there is no reflection on your actions here.
I read what thane11 posted, and my recommendation is that you send smitty a PM and ask him if what thane11 proposed is all right with him, and how far you can go with this or what he would like done. smitty is very strict with his advertising policies so it would be best if you contacted him directly by PM for his advise and direction.
I don’t want to close the thread because that would inhibit the flow of information once you contact smitty, so please no more talk about this until you have contacted smitty and received an answer.

It looks like you're gonna get the TL instead of the G35. Good choice and goodluck.

I got a response from smitty regarding the powerbuy. We can't mention the names of any dealerships on the site. But he's okay with us using the site to find other members willing to go in together to get a group discount.

You can communicate and coordinate by PM.

Buying a 2005 TL as well
I'm up in Northern California right now and am planning on buying a 2005 TL w/nav before the end of the year. Since I live in San Diego, I might be able to join in with you guys in looking for a car down in the LA area.
I am calling around 15 dealers up here in Northern California to see what deals people are offering up here. I'll post what I find.

OK, The dealer I got in touch with will not do a group buy because these cars are in high demand. Also, there are waiting lists for some popular colors. So, not all of you guys will get the same deal.
I am going to call my broker to see if they can match the dealer’s price. I will also ask in regards to group buy price discounts.
I need to know the E/I Colors, 5AT or 6MT, Navi or Non-navi., and Pkg or non-pkg, Buying or leasing. (If you are from OC, I need to know)
Thanks

Bought TL today!
Oddly enough, I was at a No. Cal dealer today (no names!!) just to test drive a car, and somehow they took my offer when I brought it up (odd because this is usually a stingy dealership).... I am now the new owner of a 2005 TL! (And I love this website!! - just ordered blue bulbs for the doors)
I got the car for $900 over invoice (2.9% financing), and paid $290 for the pro-package (wheel locks, trunk mat, all season floor mats, splash guards). They say MSRP on it is $400.
Good Luck!!!

There are two situations I can think of right now where the dealers name should not be posted.
1. You went to the dealer and told him if he gave you a good price you would mention his name in the forum. We both know this would be free advertising for the dealer and wouldn't be right.
2. People getting together in the forum and organizing a group buy or a power buy, as happened in this thread until it was stopped.
You can look through the forum and find many threads and postings where someone posted what a good deal (or bad deal) he got at a particular dealer. This is good information for everyone so we don't mind it. We just don't want a dealer advertising in the forum (which is what he is doing if he agrees to a lower price for a group because he knows everyone will read about it here) without paying the advertising fees.
I know this is the kind of situation where it is hard to decide what is right or wrong, but individual reports are ok. Just don't organize a GB or PB amongst yourselves and then, after the purchase, each buyer comes on and tells what a good deal he got at a particular dealer. This situation is reserved for an individual member to report an individual transaction.
