375 for the whole kit seems pretty nice. Glad someone somewhere is making more affordable options for us. 130 bucks for paint. They offer free shipping on orders over 500 as well.

i've heard those aftermarket kits are horrible. they don't fit up right, can break very easily, etc. it's usually oem or nothing.

up to you though!

It's a bumper lip, not a space shuttle, made from the same materials as most other body kit parts.

I'm in contact with the manufacturer, getting some pics of the lip and seeing how they look and checking out the production process.

sockr1, where did you hear this?

Just a sample, there are more threads like this. I'd pony up and get the OEM, but that's me.

you seem set on getting it, so get the lip and update the thread for future members! that is a much cheaper price and could help people out if it works out

i cant give you specific links where i heard it, but i've heard it over the last 8 years i've been in this forum

oh OK then. 8 years is a long time, perhaps whatever quality issues they may or may not have had are worked out by now.

To clarify , I'd appreciate input from ppl that have it. If you have oem, you just don't have any input I can use, and in my experience, ppl who paid more always find a reason to knock cheaper options.

dont take offense to our statements, each person that's responded has heard or seen history of it over the years we've been here. out of everyone that's responded so far, the shortest member length is 6 years and we are all very well experienced with the history of the 3G TL, so we've seen/heard a lot about the options

but i agree you need first hand experience responses, hopefully someone chimes in with first hand experience. good luck!

Not sure why you keep comparing parts to cost or to something extravagant..

I will tell you this since I've been a member here for 10 years ,owned the TL for the same amount of time and worked for Acura as a certified technician for a few years.

Aftermarket kits are garbage, plain and simple. The material is straight garbage and most of them don't come with hardware.

They fit like garbage.

Best of all, by the time you pay a body shop to PREP, PAINT and install the kit, you could have paid the same, if not less for the OEM kit.

The OEM kit is made to fit 100%
The OEM kit is factory painted, so it matches your paint.
The OEM kit has hardware plus instructions for the install.

For a factory kit, it is still hand over fist, priced very well considering what I just said.

There's a ton of information here on this site. Start doing some homework 1st.

K, couple things ....

1,I don't have factory paint, so I need it repainted anyway.
2, I'm sure if I took it to a shop for install, they have tape and screws too.

so 1100ish for factory that I still need to paint and install
vs 450 and paint +install.

As im a Jouneyman Plastic Fabricator , i can say that fiber reinforced plastic is pretty strong material.

My friend and member on here Popee has the aftermarket front lip and aftermarket rear lip.
The front passes off fine for fitment, but the rear lip fits horribly. If it's placed properly at the sides, it wants to pop out above the exhaust tips and even doubled up 3M tape won't hold it. If it was to be positioned without popping out above the exhaust tips, it meets too low on the side about a couple inches lower than the bumper/rear quarter line.
since its fibreglass, it scratched the hell out of his bumper paint trying to position it right.

excellent ty ! Nothing beats actual product usage reviews.

The rear was defective, did he return it for a good one?

Go OEM. Your TL will love you for it. People are telling you they're really not holding up that well or somewhat ok on some spots but overall I'm sure they wouldn't do it again. What happens if you get it and it doesn't fit right? Just save a bit more and get the factory. just my opinion.

I'm not against oem, but I've been driving Honda and Acura cars for awhile 93integ 97integ 99prelude 04TL
and have had several aero parts that were aftermarket.

If people want support for the TL like other cars get, we need to show interest. This car is everywhere. I have a feeling we are going to see many aftermarket goodies start popping up.

A lip, and csl spoiler are my main interests right now. I'd be happy with a used oem lip too, because I have to repaint it.

the car is now at least 13 years old....not a lot has come to fruition in the last 7 years that Ive been here

Have you checked out what Bruce(endlessRPM) is doing?

Well, if the companies that are trying never make any money, then they don't invest in nicer equipment and make better stuff. Nobody competes and her we are.

Yes I saw his thread, I'm definitely looking forward to his CSL style spoiler, hopefully made from something besides carbon fiber. An easy paint spray and tape would be awesome.

^sadly the car can be found for less than $5k....

do you think those people who barely can afford a $5k car is going to sink money into cool aftermarket stuff for it!??!
probably not..cuz they cant afford it...
and round and round the circle we go

when the car was 6 years old, we had a better chance but the after market didnt grow like they did with the integra and civics

front 345,
rear 345
sides 325
comes to 1,015 dollars. Plus shipping I'm assuming?

I paid 775 for mine from my dealer last year. That's where I got my number and added 100 (or 125 for those doing math) for variation. One vendor doesn't mean all prices are the same cost

ps I love math it's what I do for a living

True that... nobody ever does things like that to Honda and acuras...lol there's a demand. As the car ages, younger people are going to be buying them, they mod cars.

sockr1, thanks I'll check my local Acura dealership and check their price. My first route was to one of the most recommended vendors on our site.

You should just fab your own awesome kit, why pay for an aftermarket when you can DIY and have some awesome one-off one?!?!

Plus if it looks really good and builds up enough demand, you can pay mass-produce it and make MILLIONS!!!!

OP see if the dealer will price match oemacuraparts pricing. I'm on really good terms with the parts manager and sometimes they hook it up. Just another option!

I'll try that. Ty. Parts guy in lasher Acura is pretty cool, might do it. If I buy new, I still have to paint match itt.

still would be great to get a first hand review of lipkit.CA products tho.

I was serious but take it as you want..

You're the one complaining about the price of the OEM kit, then wanting to buy a sub-standard kit but saying "it's all the same crap" citing your experience.

Why not just make one yourself?

From what I see of your posts, you're really condescending, and I would really appreciate it if you didn't post in my threads .

sorry i'm hurting your feelings

But i believe in you OP. I think you can make it work, like you said, there's a huge market for these sort of things provided they are economical. You can be one of the pioneers and it can be the start of a very lucrative business for you!

no, no hurt feelings.

And I think you're right , with my experience with related materials and production processes I could likely begin producing some things. However , times are rough for me lately with a new daughter and money is obviously tight for me, hence my recent postings.

My apologies to you and anyone else that feels like only the very best should be considered for my acura, but I'd like to explore more options than just what you feel is acceptable. I may buy oem, I may not, but if it's all the same to you, I'd just like to hear if anyone has used aftermarket, and their experience.

The most cost effective solution for me,so far, is a used oem lip. Since I'd need to paint anyway.

I agree with thoiboi. First thing that came to my mind when you stated "Jouneyman Plastic Fabricator" fab one up custom made for your TL.

Edit- just read your post nvm

Best of luck, seems like you already know what you want and how it's getting done.

Post up pictures when it's finished!

that's mostly EVERYONE'S route...
the car is sub-$5k.
with MOST colors being discontinued...

I sure as hell am not gonna buy brand new.
you could probably even source kits from the junk yard for PENNIES and then with your plastic-journeyman skill could make them look new!!!!!!!

No need to apologize to us. You gotta do what's best for you and your family.

Used OEM lip i believe will be a very good compromise

You should absolutely be able to find the kit used in junkyards now, these cars are easily totaled after an accident due to their diminishing value. You can search a number of databases for used parts which searches salvage yards all over the country.

I tried that , but they're still in the 200 dollar range locally
but indeed, I could.
