Anyone remove all the plastic in the engine bay?

I just got through install my aem v2, and I really hate how most engine bays these days have all this plastic around them. My question is, is there any real benifit to having all this plastic or would I be safe removing the battery cover, clutch/brake fluid cover, and the ones on the left side slips my mind but I think its the washer fluid and power steering fluid covers. I'll post a pic for anyone who doesnt know what I mean.
Thanks

the one thing that kills the TL's performance is heat and weight. -Inaccurate.

I have all mine off and I don't think there's any real difference... you should be able to take it off and have no issues.

Once it gets really dirty in there and you can't keep up with the cleaning .. you can put them back on.

Wow am I the only one who hoses out their engine bay during every wash. Plus I spray it all down in a light dilution of Simple Green and I use my Daytona Speed Master Wheel Brush to scrub it all down. I have a saying if you want to know how the person keeps his car, look in the engine bay that will tell you everything you need to know.

Oh yeah, I took the plastic out too!

Not me, I never wash any engine bay, just not worth the risk IMO, IE getting water into the sparkplugs holes (yes I've seen this happen in person lol). But yeah it is dirty in my pics, I've only had the car about a week and a half and its been dry and windy and DUSTY lol I haven't bothered to clean it yet since its just going to get layered as soon as I do.

Lots of guys paint the plastic covers, which looks good. It gives it a finished look.

Most engine bays designed to have covers look like ass without them. The TL is right up there on the top of the list. Not to mention they quite engine idle sound quite a bit.

Pros for some are cons for others, but any cooling benefits are negligible for the average driver

I'm assuming sand them a bit for paint adhesion, then primer and paint.

If I had a 4G TL, I'd be removing the plastic.

My wife and I looked at the 4G yesterday, agreed that plastic would be coming out. I do like the current engine cover on the 3G, which they got rid of on the 4G.

I kinda like the look of the 4g, just showing the heart of the car.

I think steam cleaning an engine is the way to go, i've always been weary of using a power washer or hose on modern engines so i never risk it. Either that or some simple green and ALOT of time and elbow grease.

I've found the easiest Safest way is just some good ol elbow grease. Either a bucket of water and simple simple green or just a bucket of water. Clean, rinse towel, repeat. I've cleaned many an engine bay that way lol.

Even if it only means the engine is only 0.1% quieter, I am keeping the bay and engine covers in place.

They pop off in 2 seconds if you need to get under to check the fluids so it's not any inconvenience at all.

I will probably help evacuating the hot air under the hood with them out. They are just cosmetic.

Cars have way too much plastic nowadays. I would prefer no plastic. All plastics are made with oil.

I noticed that there is less heat in the engine bay when the covers are gone. I keep mine on just to keep it clean though.

I actually like the covers. Maybe its just because this is my first car with most of the engine covered.

I think it gives the engine bay a cleaner look. But only if you keep them clean and dressed. I usually use tire shine and I think it looks great.

I'm thinking of having them painted the body color (DGP) or maybe black.

To each his own though!

Old thread I know. Sorry guys. But have been google searching with "acurazine" and plastic allen head rivets/push pins for the plastic pieces in the engine bay. Best thread and this guy I quoted never got an answer Looking to find an alternative plastic piece rather then the dealer for those things. Any ideas or leads? Mine are broke in various spots from previous owner.

Clips can be ordered on line (acura oem parts) or from the dealership. They are pretty cheap. If you broke the plastic tabs or holders on the engine bay covers, you will need new covers. Those you can obtain used from ebay or other various places.
