Wow I posted in this thread a long time ago.

Just wanted to add this in, I did end up getting my manifold cover powdercoated like a year ago. I like how it came out:

This is an old pic. I have intake and looks cleaner than that. My car is AM!!

A shop painted it for me and looks really good in the sun!

Just painted my main engine cover gold. Looks good. One issue. The small screw head on the far left side of the front panel that houses the hood handle snapped. It won't allow the hood to close all the way. Will need to run up to the store to find a replacement. Next weekend, I'll paint the other covers. Not sure which color to go, though. I'm thinking of going glossy black or color match the body. Ideas?

Thanks. I really like what you did with the manifold, been thinking of doing something similar or might just do the lettering.

This is what I did this weekend. Went ahead and painted the others. Didn't do a good job of sanding so I'll need to do it again and get some clear coat for that glossy look. Still need to paint the strut bar.

Appreciate it. I'm getting the bug, big time! If I weren't traveling so much this year, I'd spend all my $ on my car.

i tried painting a few panels but the paint seems to be darker in some spots and doesn't look good at all. i'm going to try one panel with trew's methods all the way (220 sand, adhesion promotor, primer, paint, then clearcoat), so hopefully it comes out well. anyone else have the problem with uneven paint coats?

all of your engine bays look great btw!

Do you need High Temp paint? or can you use any kind of paint? I was going to use the Krylon Fusion for plastics and was just wondering if it would be okay in the engine bay.

that's cool. does the intake manifold cover just come off by unscrewing all the bolts on it? Also, how did you prep them? and do you know if I want to paint the plastics if I have to use high heat paint for those? Thanks, sorry to be a bother!

OK, new pictures tomorrow. I made a video on my iPhone of my Short Ram Intake. I had all intentions of posting it here tonight. But it won't load on YouTube nor Photobucket. I'll do a new video tomorrow too.

Use high temp paint and primer. I lightly sanded before applying the primer.
The center cover is finished with a light clear coat gloss.
Still not finished but this is what I got so far.

Aw, I wish I saw this thread earlier! There is some excellent paint work in this thread, not to mention creative thinking.

I wish I had even a quater of the talent you guys have, as I did not do the painting work myself. Instead, a friend of mine actually came up with the idea of painting my TL's engine bay plastics, and offered to do the work himself.

Here are a few pictures of my engine bay:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/c0gi210czye17dj/P1010086.JPG

Corroded throttle body sadface:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/1h0h6qixp7hjkgn/P1010095.JPG

The top of the coolant reservoir still needs to be painted, but that's a project for another day.

PS: I apologize for the links. I would of put the pictures in thumbnail form, but they refused to load for some reason.

Nicely done Jay...I never saw this thread before so here's mine:

Steven, do you know that I can't find your intake on amazon anymore? I did a poor man's CAI but I think I want to switch to something like this, easier to get to for cleaning etc.
