Anyone else have the Blizzak LM22 winter package?
I really have had no problems so far, but the ride is a bit rough at times. I do not have teh bad vibration problems that a lot of posters are talking about, but I do feel some vibration. Just curious what other owners have to say about these tires.
As for snow and grip, the VSA only kicks in when I am a bit too agressive with the accelerator on snow. Other than that these tires are very stable. A little soft on dry of course, but I am sure that the Potenzas wouldn't be drivable in the conditions I am seeing in the winter (Toronto area).
Your views would be of interest.
Will.

Hi Will,
Im just down the road from you in London. I have the LM22's on my TL and I think they are great tires for winter. We've had plenty of snow to test them out on and they have done pretty well. After 3 or so inches they lose traction but are very good up to that and they are excellent on ice and generally slippery surfaces. They seem quiet but I took delivery with them on the car so I cant compare to other tires yet.
They handle surprisingly well for a snow tire if you keep the tire pressure at 34 or 35 psi. Im just about to leave for a business trip and put about 6000 k's on the LM 22's so Ill be sure and post my feelings on them when I return.
BTW...my VSA kicks in all the time on slippery surfaces if Im not gentle on the throttle.

There are only 2 winter tires applicable to the TL, the LM22 and Dunlop SP's At this time they are the only H rated (130 MPH) snow tires that fit our car. I've had the LM22 for 2mths now and in mid WI we have had plenty of snow. I'm very happy with the purchase. One thing people have to understand is that no snow tires will make you impervious to the weather, especially in low profile form. Yesterday I was commuting on a double lane country road doing about 70. All of a sudden the car starts to drift very slightly sideways, *HIT black ice!!!!!! heart starts pumping, fingers cutting through the steering wheel, mind going a million miles a minute, DONT BRAKE, DONT STEER, LIFT OFF THE GAS D*MN HERE COMES A CURVE!!!!!! Luckily, I was wearing the LM's because as soon as I slowed down to around 50 a tenous grip was regained. In a strip of around 15 miles there were around 30 cars in the ditch left and right, essentially almost everybogy on the road but me! Moral of the story: No, the tires wont make ice dry but might very well save you from a bad accident. I'll never drive up here without then in winter.

Hi William, I am a few days from hopefully signing on the dotted line for a 04 TL Dynamic, strangely enough the colour combination I am currently considering is the Anthracite/Ebony. I am going to put either LM-22's or Dunlop M3's on the stock 17" rims and then have summer tyres put on the 18" Acura A-Spec Rims.
I have had Blizzaks on a number of my previous cars and they are excellent up to the point were the silica compound is used up, then they become all season tyres, I am trying to get more info on the LM-22's, The Dunlops seem to have a more aggressive tread pattern, I live on top of the Northern Niagara Escarpment so I will need good winter tyres.
By the way, how are you enjoying the TL in this weather.
Cheers, Manumad

I have the LM-22s and have been very happy with them.
No vibration issues.
The limited snow experience I have had with the car has been positive.
I have also had these tires on my S2000 for three seasons and have been extremely happy with them.
My sense is that the newer model Dunlop M3 may have more grip but I did not find them in the OEM size.

Manumad, the LM 22 dont have the multicell compound, the WS 50's do. Unfortunately the WS is rated Q (99MPH) which is not adequate for the TL. THe LM22 dont' have the ultimate grip of the WS but the grip they do have lasts thoughout the life of the tire.

I know they carry the LM22's. I don't know about the WS 50's?

I figured that out with choosing a "wheel and tire package".
They're out of stock for this season. Not a big deal since I live in warm climates for now. I just wanted to read about the WS50 compound vs LM22's.
I have Michelin snow tires for a truck I've driven up north. THey are great in snow and ice.
