You wash and detail your car and you find another, new paint chip and/or scratch? Makes me not want to detail my own car any more . . . and it's only 1 month old.

Yeah know how you feel man...I have a little rock dent in the chrome where my hood is. Noticed it the other night when I washed it. Sucks, but it's bound to happen when you drive.

I also love it when new body styles come out so that the value drops even lower haha

Well you have to remember its a car, its mean't to be driven not just sit in the garage all the time. Things are going to happen no matter what. Just have to learn to deal with it over time. Shit happens unfortunately just a part of life. But I know what you are saying it sucks but what can you do.

its bad to find it, but a bit of touchup paint and 2000-3000 grit sandpaper takes care of it all.

Small chips, not so much. *So far* they've all been in odd, obscure areas. Little touch up paint, no problem.

Scratches/door dings =

Having a bike fall on the hood and dent/scratch it =

Whats the best place the purchase the touch up paint? And is there any special "preparation" or do you just ues the tip/brush to fill in the chips? How do you said down the "bumpy" paint without hazing the surrounding clear coat? And I'm assuming you are wet sanding right?

I got my paint from the stealership. I just slowly, over the course of a few days fill it in with light layers. When it gets past the top layer, i sand it down using the back of a pencil (eraser) with sandpaper on it, this keeps the sanding area small and keeps it all in check. I sand very little and check constantly. Too much and you need to respray the clear coat. To little and you have a big blob there. Also if you do "haze" up the clear, follow up with some light cut compound, it should be able to take out 2-3K sanding marks.

There is an excellent DIY in the wash and wax section.
