Anybody here switch from a BMW.

In the early spring of 09 I will consider 1 of the following cars to purchase.

1. New Acura TL AWD. Manual if offered.
2. Bmw 135i manual sport.
3. Infiniti G 37 S sport manual.
4. Lexus IS 350. NO manual.

After doing ALOT of research on these cars, I was wondering how many people

here have had enough with BMW and problems. If you have could you please

tell me your experience and why you came to Acura.

If you had a choice of any of these cars, which would you buy?

Most of them loaded are about $40k. The BMW 135i with manual, sport pkg, and

leather is about $38k MSRP.

Thankyou for any opinions or experiences you have had with any of these cars.

Jeff D.

In the late fall of '99, my wife and I got a used '96 328i from an exclusive high end dealer ship with 15200 miles on the car. This place only buys low mileage leased BMWs, then completely reconditions them.. you get to see the work order for what was done.

From then until March 2005, we spent over $8300 on extra normal work. The straw that finally broke the camel's back was when the plastic water pump impeller broke and left my wife stranded on the way to church one morning. The following week, we went to check out a TSX and the weekend after that we got her '05 TL automatic (Satin Silver).

Her BMW was an automatic and had the "Sports package" which I seem to recall was suspension and wheel upgrades. But frankly, it was never in the same league with my, then, Ford 2000 SVT Contour in terms of handling and the overall fun factor. The SVT was quite a bit ahead of the 328i. And so is the TL.. especially if you happen to own a manual, which I do (an '04).

Bimmers are costly in the maintenance and repair department. Yes, you get a number of years "free" maintenance for a new one, but that does come to an end. In a nut shell. If her keys to her former BMW were sitting next to my SVT keys or my '04 TL keys, the Bimmer keys would find themselves along while I was out having fun.
