Any one race a jeep srt-8 on the freeway??

So I ran a jeep srt8 on the freeway and ended up pulling on him and was wondering if our cars really can beat them on the freeways or if I got lucky and raced a lemon? The first two races we took off at about 70mph and I was in third(AT), he got the jump but i was closing the gap. The third race, i made him speed up to closer to 80, and i took the jump and kept the lead til he gave up well into 4th gear. I know that our cars are more of a freeway car than a dig car, but i was very shocked to have taken the lead on the jeep. Maybe they are strictly off the line and not much past that??

It was a private track, and the drivers were professionals....

Just sayin'. BTW, the TL can't hang with the STR8 Jeep. I notice you are in Houston. We are having an acurazine meet this Saturday. It would be nice if you could make it

Stock they run low 13s, with around 103-106 mph trap speeds..they r fast as hell!! But at higher speeds Aerodynamics take over a bit, and it is still a Jeep ya know.. I bet it sounded pretty good at WOT going 100mph huh

Im against organized street racing where people congregate on the sides of the road and dozens of idiots run their cars three feet away from each other, but I don't think there is anything wrong with doing a couple of 70 pulls on a freeway if there's no traffic. Just be safe

Lol.

OP you are auto? Either the SRT8 was jam packed, or he was toying with you. They are boats, but also pack 425hp. Their low 13 1/4 mile means nothing in terms of roll racing, but they have enough power to substantially pull a 5AT from a roll at any speed. The 6MT would need a few mods to keep up as well until aerodynamics take over @ 100+.

its weird you know, I also have an auto and beat a 05-07 mustang gt from a dig, light turned green and we took off, beat him by about a car, with my wife in the car too. He did suck on the takeoff though.

Watch stock srts on YouTube, they are fast 0-70, but their 70-100 is not impressive, and it gets worse from there.. Anyone see this video though?? No TL is keeping up with that!!!!

The new hemi Jeeps aren't that impressive unfortunately(Excluding the SRT-8). Neither are the older model hemi's. They run mid 15's stock from what I have seen Ive raced one and it was embarrasing for him. I would have expected them to run faster as the 5.9L Jeep Grand Cherokee back in the late 90's was faster!

if that civic was truly 600whp it should not have lost to that SRT8.....alot of driver error coming from that civic driver........hitting redline ans bouncing off of it numerous times, doesn't matter what you running you shift like that you are going to lose lol!! but not to take away from the SRT8 that thing is a BEAST!!! that I wouldnt want to run into on the street!!

I have not love for the SRT8 Jeeps but they are beasts in stock form....although the have nothing on the German triplets (ML63, X5 M, Cayenne GTS). The one in the video above is impressive....though its probably only a matter of time before Switzer massages a Cayenne Turbo into an equally formidable monster.

The one I ran at the track ran 13.6 @101. I see no issue of hanging with one from a roll. However, I've also seen 13.2s with traps over 104. Hit or miss like anything on the street, really.
