I just got a 2004 Acura TL, Anthracite, with grey interior and I'm looking to get the windows tinted. I've read on here to try to find a place that includes moleskin and uses 3M tint....

So far in Richmond, VA, I've called 4 different places and no one uses 3M and they were all charging 240+. I'm looking for the mirror tint and probably want to go 35% all around or maybe 35 upfront and 20 in the back...not too sure yet.

Any other VA'ers around that have found a good tinting place? I feel like I should be able to find a place that does it for less than 200!

 

bump***i know we've got some TL's in the Richmond, VA area. Where did yall get your tint done at? Im having trouble finding a reasonable and reliable tinting shop. Thanks

I took both my TL's to Sun Block on Huguenot Rd just S of Robious near Strictly Soccer. They did a decent job and fixed a screwup. They use Llumar. I wasn't particular about the brand, just the joy of tint. $229 @ 379-4123.

 

How has that tint held up, any scratching issues that they say the tl are notorious for...

I called up SunBlock on Huguenot Rd. yesterday to try and get this tinting project complete(its been 3 months with my 04 TL and its driving me crazy without tint ). They use llumar and the guy doing the tinting has been doing it for 20+ years he states.

I called up to ask about prices and styles they had available. They said 250 at first, until I asked if they will go below the legal limit. The lady at the front said the darkest they will go is 35% all around, BUT thats only if you pay in cash haha .

I also asked about the price being negotiable, and she stated, if you pay in cash he can lower the price for you too lol. fine by me

I will post a follow-up after I deal with them so the other members around Richmond can have a review of a tint shop.

My question is what tint to go with...they have an ATR Charcoal/Black or Platinum Plus(which is a mirrorish like tint). I've read that Platinum Plus has a greenish Lexus style tint...but I think thats what I have on my Honda Del Sol and I dont think its greenish.

I have a Anthracite 2004 A/T TL, with grey interior and just factor rims. I really like mirror tints but I dont know how it'd look on my car. I think that if I got a mirror tint that definitely wasn't greenish at all, the Anthracite color would look great with a reflective tint.

Of course black is always a solid choice, and that'll look good too. I'm going to check out both when I drop my car off today to see what I think, but what are you recommendations? Any Anthracite tint photos too? I'll post pics after my tint job

 

I got the Lumar Platinum Plus - Mirror Tint - 35% all the way around. He did it for 200 and he really seemed like a good guy, happy to have my business....I'm glad I went with him.

He doesnt use moleskin, and I was a little worried, but so far, after 1.5 weeks, I've rolled all windows up and down numerous times and I havent found a scratch. He also got the rear quarter panels very well too. He said he uses the only precision cut machine in this area...and I cant find a thing wrong with the tint.

In cloudy days, it looks straight up like a mirror...i love it

Sorry its taken so long...heres some pics of my 04 TL with the Platinum Plus tint, 35% all around. I chose to go with Platinum plus for the mirror tint, just something different on the anthracite than the typical charcoal. Let me know what you think of the tint and the car...I'm looking to do some inexpensive mods in the near future, let me know what you recommend.
