Any device to improve mileage on the TL?

Any simple device that could improve your gas mileage...say 35-45 MPG

You beat me to it! lol

If there was ANY way to RELIABLY and effectively increase MPG, the engineers would have done it.

If you drive your car right on the highway, 55-60mph you can achieve the mileage you stated. There has been a few here stating this. But when I get 28-30mph driving 70-75mph why drive 55-60mph?

35-45 mpg?...

Yeah, a trade in on a diesel or hybrid. High output V6 engines should not have been on your radar if milage was a preemminent concern.

Get a prius and put the TL badge on it..

35-45 is 4 Cyl. gas mileage; though the next TL might have the Honda MDS V6 that will help increase gas mileage.

You are fighting physics here. IF the car weighed 500-750 lbs less, IF you never went over 2000 rpm (short-shifted), IF you always keep a steady throttle opening (probably impossible with drive-by-wire) and a million other IFs, you might be able to obtain what you're looking for.

But, as has already been said by many others, you basically bought the wrong car if you're looking for that kind of gas mileage. Too big, too roomy, too powerful, too "sports-oriented" vs. "economy-oriented". Your best bet for a car the size of the TL for that kind of mileage is diesel (VW, MB) or hybrid (Toyota/Honda/Lexus). Forget the TL, at least in its' current configuration (gas V-6, FWD).

I couldn't even achieve that mileage in my 2000 Civic sedan. The most I got was 40 MPG but that was pure freeway driving. The thunderous 1.6 liter inline four engine boasting 127 HP w/ VTEC was only able to muscle 30 MPG city/hwy. I'm glad that my TL-S so far can get me 23 MPG but I'm hoping it could do better after a few small mods. Good luck on your search man.

My previous car was an Audi A4 with a 221HP 3.0L engine that got AT BEST 26 on the highway and averaged 19 combined. When I got my TL and was able to get and easy 30 on the highway. At least with the TL you get real performance out of the engine and pretty good fuel economy instead of no power and bad MPG with the Audi. My A4 was the worst of both worlds. The car was a tank, had no power and didn't get anything for MPG. I figure 30+ on the highway is very respectable for 270 horsepower.

35 to 45? Sure. Make it a practice to always drive downhill and with a tailwind.

make air intake temps hotter.... colder air means more fuel for more power, so that should me hotter air, less fuel, less power. you can gain maybe 2-3 MPG.....

wow .. this is an original one ... never thought of this one before ... gotta give teng props for that ... matter of fact, this class of car doesn't really go with the high MPG ... why don't you get a GS-H or even LS-H?

A cold air intake or CAI will improve your mileage slightly, perhaps 1 extra mpg.

i think you could. i read somewhere on acurazine, this guy stripped the car. litterly took everything he didnt need in his car to get better gas millage. He would only carry enough gas to get him to work and back to reduce the weight. and it actually worked.
