Antracite metallic vs Nighthawk black perl
I see a lot of combination of antracite/ebony, but not many with nighthawk black/ebony on this forum. Does nighthawk black perl look not so good with ebony ? That's the combination I want to go with ...

I have NBP on ebony, and it looks awesome!! Just be ready to keep it clean. But as for looks, you can't go wrong. I was consodering anthrocite as well when I got my TL. I am very happy that I went with black on black. When it is clean, there is no comparison.

Black on Black
Black on Black is the way to go. That's the combination I have on mine and it looks really nice with the interior blue lights and gauges, and the silver colored trims. I just had my windows tinted too (35%) and it looks even nicer and luxurious.

Those were the two colors i was trying to decide on but with the black, like the others have said takes alot TLC and considering I work full-time and go to school full-time I figured I wouldnt have that much time to keep the car really clean. So i went with the Antracite and with the tint windows its one nice car. I also already own a black camaro Z/28 so i figured i'll try something different.

Keep Right Except to Pass
I got NBP but ebony was the one interior color I was dead-set against. Why? Because it gets hot around here in the summer and I am a golfer. A black interior can get really hot after being in the sun for 4 to 5 hours. I went with black and camel instead. Black-on-black sure looks sharp, though.

I have NBP/Ebony...LOVE IT!!!! My 04 Maxima was Black with Frost (light) interior and I hated it...it got too dirty and I didn't like the look from the outside. I wanted Black on Black but they couldn't get me that combo when the new Max first came out, so I settled. Well....that car was traded for my NBP/Ebony TL!!
Swirls are a problem though...

Yea I agree , I have NBP and Ebony. And let me tell you, it does not look that great when the windows are up, but when you are in a freshly washed car and all 4 windows dow, and you look at the TL from the side, it looks pretty bad ass. Makes it look smaller than it is too...more sporty as well.

I had 2 TL's with black on black and although it looked great, and really wasn't too hot during the summer because of our good air conditioner, the swirl marks drove me insane. Now, I've got Anthracite/Ebony and byebye swirl marks. It just wasn't worth the effort keeping NBP clean.

I agonized over the color combos and here's what help me take the decision I took. (keep in mind, these are very subjective opinions).
The cool blue interior lighting looks best with the quartz or ebony interior so while I liked the camel, it was out.
I did like the black but having owned three other black cars, I was ready to consider something else. Normally, I would not have gone with a gun-metal colored car, but the anthracite on this car really looks super. So my car is Antracite/Ebony/6MT/Nav and I have never looked back or regretted my decision. I absolutely love the exterior finish on my car.
I am quite fond of the term, "understated elegance" and find my car fits this persona very nicely. But as I said, this is most subjective.

i was considering getting black on black. i think its probably a good looking color combo no matter what car you get. but the swirl marks are a bitch, you see every slight swirl that exists.

I may be one of the few, but there was never even a thought for me, when I saw the Acura 1st come out, I said I want black on black, and I got it. My buddy has black with camel, and the interior just feels too damn bright, I like the dark/chill/smooth look on the inside of a car, the camel just annoys me when I was driving his TL. Everyone knows chrome/silver on black looks the best, and that is exactly how the dash looks, its sweet! And thse blue lights, unreal!! Everyone who has seen my car in person LOVES the color combo.

Well, I've owned both colors...anthracite in a TL-S and currently the black in a 2004 TL. While the anthracite is definitely a nice color (I had ebony interior), I think most would tell you that the black is more striking than the anthracite (if honest). No doubt in my mind.
I can honestly say that I spend no more time cleaning my NBP than the AM that I owned beforehand. Of course, I tend to clean my cars pretty much every week anyway, regardless of the color.
I've always been partial to the darker colors...just think they look better. Swirls? As detailed as I am, I see swirls on any color car. Just this morning, I saw tons of swirls on a white accord's hood as I walked in from the parking garage to the office. So, no matter what the color, I always use methods that help prevent swirls (or any marring, for that matter). I use the same care when cleaning my black car as I would any color.

I put this post in the gray v blue thread I think it's better in here
You know I really like Anthracite... but have you noticed how many cars makers are offering gray... (haze gray and underway baby)
anyway I am still a good 5 months out from buying my 05 TL and of course since all I am doing is working and saving my money all the time I have nothing else to think about but what kind of TL I will get of course.... any who as I was saying I really like th TL in gray but sure seems like that's the new "in" color these days.. I really really like the TL in black.. when cleaned up it looks freaken awesome... but I have heard so many people comment about swirl marks and what not it kinda scares me a little. After all is said and done I'll be dropping 38k on a car and I want to keep it for at least 6 years. I'm afraid the black will show it's "wear" after awhile.. Ohh man decisions.. don't get me started on the interior! haha (I want black but that camel toe looks sweet)
Some one said that Anthracite is a cursed color as it's lifespan isn't good.... what's up with that?
