Anti-Photo License plate covers

Has anyone tried one of the Anti-Photo license plate covers? If so, I would be interested in hearing your remarks.

they work...they blur out your license plate if a photo/toll/traffic light takes a picture..however i believe them to be illegal in certain states if not all. but why would you want one? are you a rebel driver? run tolls often? or just want one to say you have one?

I have one and I got pulled over when a cop could not read my plate. Thankfully, he did not give me a ticket, I think because it was Christmas Eve. Instead he handed me a ratchet and said, "Remove it in front of me and I will let you off." I would have removed it a few weeks later anyway because I was driving to Quebec and I didn't think it would be a good idea to try to get through Customs with that thing on the back (there is a camera trained on your rear license plate, at least at the Customs location on I-87).

The one I have is the Eliminator. I don't know how well it works because I don't run red lights. I got it when the District of Columbia started using photo radar, but every time the photo cop has been parked on I-295 it's been obvious well in advance, so I haven't needed the thing.

Have you seen those electronic plate covers that can be blurred at the flick of a switch?? Those definitely work, but I've never seen anyone use them other than at a car show I think.

Cuz a camera can take a picture faster than the switch can tell the cover to switch... Just not worth it, instead get a GPS based Camera monitor which tells you when you are coming close to a camera

Yeah, it only works when you know there are camera traps. Like up in DC they make it public where all the cameras are.

any obstuction on your license plate is illegal, those covers esp. The spray stuff works, but it is easy to tell that you have it on, at night, when there is a person behind you, and their headlights hit the plate, the plate causing crazy glare, thus showing the person behind you, maybe a police officer, that you have the spray on.

No use!!

I saw this on Discovery Channel, Mythbuster. They test it driving 100+ MPH and the camera can still take down your license plate number.

plus they know the trick. you just have to adjust the contrast and you will read it clear as day.

There is a trick to go around those cameras, if you feel you are not going to make it, and you really must go through the red, drive as you are making a turn into a side street, but continue going straight. You are basically going into a turn but then coming out of it to go straight.

Reference: NYC cops... the slower you go, the better. The cameras are not capable of reading the plates, or in most cases, completely ignore you.
