Anti-Lock Brakes
this is my first car with anti-lock brakes so i'm not too knowledgable about them. i noticed the anti-locks are getting triggered often on my car. so far during dry road on sunny days (haven't drove in the rain yet). i hear a small thump noise from the wheel area and the brake pedal vibrates (like someone said before, feels like braking on gravel). i'm not driving fast or braking hard, but i notice it usually happens on bumpy roads while i'm braking. is this the function of anti-lock brakes?

Your car has a problem. Anti-lock brakes should only react like that in an emergency situation. There is more than likely a wheel sensor problem and possibly wires that were never connected at manufacuture or came loose shortly afterwards. I assume you have no ABS warning light coming on during normal operation? Get the car to the dealer and have the mechanic ride with you so you are sure he can see what you are experiencing.

Sounds like you have bad brakes... Not a problem with ABS. I had a problem with my car where my peddle would vibrate... I took it to a shop and they told me that my discs were warped...Hope that helps any.

If someone can either clarify, or correct my thought process...that would be great.

i also agree with pooch. i live on a hill and everyday when i go down i slightly hold brake and ABS is triggered. it's nothing to be worried about. i even took it into the dealer and the my dealer knew right away. "oh it's only the ABS."

Agree with pooch, a small bump or entering my driveway (slight bump due to rain-water sewage indentation) and braking at the same time triggers the ABS pumping.

Not a problem at all. In a very bumpy road. The wheel will be unloaded for a second on the rebound, the computer will read this as tire slippage, this in turn will activate the ABS. The ABS and VSA computer on the TL is so darned fast it almost feels like it predicts rather than reacts to driving conditions. If you ever drive it in snow or ice you will find out what I mean.

On my 2002 Acura 3.2 TL I notice that a lot of times I fell the brake pedal vibrating as if I am going on a gravel road - I believe it is the ABS kicking in - but it happens a lot of times is that normal.
This concerns me since my other car that also has ABS never does this - offcourse it isn't Acura

I do feel the same way in Acura vehicles. My 94 Legend acts the same...
