Another new guy
Just a Georgia Boy fresh out the army and wife just got me an 06 TL with the navigation system. Really happy about that. Had car envy since they first rolled off the lot in 04.
Had the usual used car woes, chips and curb rash. In fact that's how I found this site. I was trying to find out how to replace a key and find a new navigation disk. The wonderful "Mary Kay" chick only left one key and stole the nav disk out the back.😡 I have since ordered a updated version. The key thing is tricky as the local dealer is charging 60.00 for a key...and 110.00 for programing. Looks like I will be calling a lock smith.
Already saw some cool mods I wanted to try, like the inspire fog light, the custom navigation background and DIY DRL. Some of the picture links are broken but most of the write ups are very detailed so it's not impossible to do.
A little jealous of the 07 to 08 type S owners. But to me the 3rd gen TL was the best looking.

Programming is the biggie. They quote $100+ as an hour job, but it takes less than that. Every so often you may find a dealer that will quote it as a half hour and only charge ~$50. But better bet would be a locksmith with the correct equipment who'll charge in the $30 range or less.
Welcome and happy fixing!

Ebay can net you an OEM key for fairly cheap. Or a China copy for really cheap. Check the FCC ID code of your current key and get the same.

Hey thanks for the warm welcome. I am getting the car ready to post pics. I just finished painting the rims. simple gunmetal to contrast with white diamond paint job. I got inspire fog lights coming and saw a cool illuminated door sill DIY I'll be trying once i figure out what color LED I want to use. Man there is a HUGE amount of info and tips here. I will say this if you lose your key in the middle Georgia area...the struggle is real. Still looking for a Locksmith to copy and program a key for me. I did get the ebay key and fob combination that came in the mail but nobody wants to cut it. The fob was easy to program so its not a complete loss. All and all its coming along nicely.
