Another B Service Question & Any good boston area independant honda/acura shops?

So my car has about 20,000 miles on it, and the Service B Due Now sign came up.

In the manual, it mentions that items 2 and 3 (i think), should occur every 15,000 miles or so. Now my car's over that range and isn't showing the 2 or 3 service, but should I do them anyways because of the mileage?

Now for the kicker,
I called Clair Acura (in mass.) for a B service quote, and they wanted $355 which is crazy. (Hopefully that includes a 2 and/or 3 also if not its outrageous).

Then I called Acura of Boston. For a B service, they quoted $104 or so. I asked about the B2, which was quoted at 290.

Is the B service at $104 really worth that much more than an oilchange/tire-rotation (which costs about 70 at the dealership)?

And is the 2 service really worth 180 (price diff between b2 and b)?

And if I really should get a B2, and 290 is a rip-off, should I go to an independant shop, and if so, would anyone recommend any in the boston area?

Thanks

I found this guy on the web http://www.hondaaking.com/services.html.
So I have no idea if he's any good or not, but he's offering $60 for a b-service equivalent. Is there a way to find out if its a good mechanic? Or anyone else in boston have a good recommendation?

So my options right now are
1. pay pay $104 for the B service at acura dealer
2. pay ~70 for an oil change & tire rotation at acura dealer
3. B service at independant for $60 (which I dont know if they're any good)

Option 3 seems pretty appealing (compared to 1). Although if option 2 and 1 are really the same service, then I'd go with 2 over 3.

Any thoughts?

My B service included changing the internal air filter which was 40cnd for the filter and 100cnd to install since they have to remove the glove box. Did yours include the filter change?

I just had the B Service done. I was a little over 20,000 so they also replaced the engine air filter for an additional $42 (that's usually done at 22,500), and I needed an oil change. Since I have new tires, I opted out of the tire rotation so they deducted whatever that would have cost. I had a discount coupon for the whole thing (I think it was 10% off) and bottom line was $200 with labor and tax.

Rallye Acura gave me this print-out to show what's included in the 22,500 mile service:

Change engine oil and filter
Check for open manufacture recalls
Check and top all fluids
Replace wiper refills
Fill washer fluid
Inspect all fuel lines
Inspect and adjust all drive belts
Check all cooling hoses and connections
Inspect water pump for leakage and wear
Inspect front and rear brakes
Inspect brake calipers
Inspect ABS brake components
Inspect master cylinder brake hoses
Check parking brake adjustment
Rotate tires and set pressures
Check alignment
Lubricate door locks and hinges
Inspect under body
Inspect all suspension components
Test alternator output and battery
Check headlamp alignment
Reset maintenance light
Road test vehicle

I assume this list is standard for all dealers.

The B and B2 are different services. I had a trusted independent Honda/Acura specialist do my B service for $70; nearest dealer wanted $130 or $145 (w/o coupon discount).
However, the B2 service includes changing the engine and cabin air filters. The cabin filter is apparently a little more involved and requires removal of the glove box- likely 1 hour labor by itself. I think the two filters probably total $50-70 retail. $300+ still sounds excessive, though.

I haven't heard anything about this shop, but in Cambridge on Prospect St. there is a place called Hondar. They service Honda/Acura only. Hope that helps.
