Another aftermarket wing spolier..
Another aftermarket wing spolier..
just recieved it in the mail from exotictruck of Florida. (180 shipped!) It is of high quality not made of styrofoam sht.....how do I go about installing this on my leased TL, im thinking about calling my dealer but i dont want to spend 200+ for someone to install this thing that I can easily do myselffor free-- but im worried thhat permently drilling holes in my trunk might be against the lease agreement or adding aftermarket accessories----- -any suggestions?
First off, I would be very sure this is a good spoiler before you go drilling holes in your trunk(does anyone know how much those cost new, or would they just put some weld in there and grind it down and repaint it?), if these holes only fit this spoiler, and the thing turns out to be junk you have a problem. Also, are there any drag issues, I am not worried about performance, more of it being torn off or making noise. As for the actual lease agreement you would have to ask the company you are leasing from.

I think drilling of the holes would be enough to violate your lease agreement.

Got any pics of this spoiler, a link, something?

If the spoiler is OEM, they won't care much at all. If it's aftermarket, but looks OEM, they may or may not charge you.
I have a friend who checks in lease turn-ins, and if they feel like it (i.e. you didn't get another car from them), they can charge you A LOT for minor things.

hmmm, everything i have done so far is not even close to permanent but it looks like I will have to call the dealer and see if this can be done. Besides the acura symbol embossed under the spoiler this is a perfect match to OEM.

Ah, looks like factory...gotcha...thought it was just a wing of some kind, not OEM take-off. They probably won't care too much, but I agree with what ndx2 said about it. Worst case, put it on...then, when the lease is up, take it off, put some filler in the holes and put some touch up paint on it.
I was told I could only add Acura OEM products to a leased vehicle. I'd obviously lose the money I put into the car when I turn it back in, but it won't void anything and it won't cost me anything during the final inspection. If you don't care about getting nailed or plan on buying the car at the end of the lease, then it doesn't matter. You could also fix the drill holes before you turn it back in, but that won't be cheap either.
