Annoyinsg Seat Belt Alarm

Has anybody figured out how to disable the seat belt alarm? I asked the dealer and they gave me the excuse that if they told me they could be sued proving there is a way to disable it. I normally wear the belt anyway but if your moving the car in a parking lot or trying to grab an item out of your pocket that irritating alarm just goes off!!

I already thoght of the belt buckle idea. Its a good quick fix but there has to be a better way. A friend that recently purchased a mustang Cobra showed me his owner's manual. The Ford Mustang owner's guide explains in detail how to disarm thei seatbelt alarm FYI. If Ford can give out that info why is it such a taboo subject?

Every thread I've seen about disabling the seat belt warning seems to attract fanatical zealots who want to make sure everyone eats their vitamins and wears their seat belt.

They can't seem to comprehend the fact that someone may understand the risk of not wearing a seatbelt and choose to accept that risk.

If someone wants to be brazen, not wear their seatbelt, and subject themselves to a fine and points on their license not to mention potentially serious injury in case of an accident with their car, they can be my guest.

Assisting with disabling of anything related to the seatbelts may be highly illegal and I'll bet that's why those posts are trashed.

If seatbelt posts are trashed, how about ones involving stories of excessive speed or how fast you've had the TL? By the way, in NY, a seatbelt violation carries only a fine, no points. Speeding carries both a fine and points and you can lose your license entirely with egregious speed.

Read the last sentence of my post again soljc.

It states that posts giving instructions on how to 'disable' are the ones being trashed.

Well, I'm not a promoter of not wearing a seat belt but to each his own..
Now, as for the "dinger", all your doing is completing a connection/circuit (to "ground" most likely) when you connect the lap belt. I haven't looked on the TL but have replaced enough seat belt buckles to know. Move the seat as far forward as you can so you can see where the "buckle" portion of the seat belt bolts to the frame, ie between seat and center console. You should find one or two electrical wire(s) coming from the belt/latch. If just one, you should be able to disconnect it and permanently "ground" it to replicate the seat belt being latched. If two wires are present, just connect the two together to complete the "seat belt latched" circuit....

If someone couldn't come up with a get-a-round from an Acura manual, that would be my remedy... If I was a non-seat belt user.

Be safe

I appreciate all the caring people out there but everybody has been in a position where they were moving their car in a parking lot or trying to grab something from their pocket and had the seatbelt off only to hear that annoying seatbelt alarm. And by the way I absolutely know the dangers of not wearing a seatbelt, I am a cop and paramedic. I normally wear the seatbelt but I dont need an alarm and light show to instruct me or actually force me to do so.

fold a business card in half, and then in half again, and place it in the seatbelt lock... that'll disable it..

jeez.... but if you crash and die because of not wearing your seatbelt, its your own fault, nobody elses.. :banghead:
