Angel Eyes Installed over weekend

Here's a quick write up on the Umnitza angel eyes I just installed on my 06 TL. I'll post up some pics soon, but had a question and wanted to share some information.

First of all, the installation wasn't that bad and thanks to all on this forum for posting such great information and DIYs. I had never taken the bumper off or baked headlights, but following the youtube videos for bumper removal and other threads for the lights worked out well.

As far as the angel eyes, I purchased the Predator Orion V2 LEDs which are pretty bright. They look good, but are slightly small in my opinion. I think they have to be because it is a full circle and not 3/4. They won't fit around the bezel and I had to glue them on the inner part, sort of as seen in the pic on the website: http://umnitza.com/umnitza-acura-pre...08-p-1340.html. I ordered only 1 ring because of the non-circular inner fog light and did not receive a wiring harness. After contacting Umnitza, they said due to the more complex install, it is not included. I was a bit disappointed as it says one is included on the site regardless of the install.

I went ahead with the installation anyway since I wanted to get it down this weekend. One thing is that the wiring for the halos are 22 gauge, so I had to make sure to get wire taps that worked with them. I tapped into the wiper motor power wire, which does make the halos serve as DRLs....they turn on with the car.

When cranking the car, the angel eyes flicker during the start up as the engine is turning and I'm not sure if this will affect the life of the LEDs. Does anyone know of a way to delay by a second or two power going to the halos? I'm not too sure, but would a capacitor or something in between the wiper motor wire and the + of the halos give that slight delay to avoid the 3-4 flickers?

Nice. But I personally think angles eyes belong on BMW where they originated...and Audi strips belong on Audi.

Seriously? Let's not start this shit again. If you don't like them, don't post in here. We don't need another thread locked because of the argument.

Anyway they are a bit small. I wish they did fit around the bezel instead of inside of it. Glad I only out them on my DRL bezel on my 07-08 like JPtl04 did

...i tried to copy them bc they look dope. they look great and i get compliments on them all the time. plus it's not like they are all on like that at once. i can switch either one on with a flip of a switch. halos are dedicated DRL's and LED strip with headlights. idk how they don't "turn out right", unless you F up the install or buy cheap parts.

Just saying. You can tell the difference. When I see a car trying to copy the angle eyes or the audi style led lights I just laugh.

Off the top of my head real quick...
Porsche, Lexus and even Ford must be Audi wannabes too than.

And the new Camaro must be a BMW wannabe as well.

Going to nit pick but... just wondering, did you notice you wrote angle each time instead of angel?

What to do, what to do? Hmmm let's see.... Take advise from a nobody with 100 posts and absolutely zero modifying experience on a TL, Beside changing out some regular halogen bulbs to some LEDs. or listen to my instics and taste, and that of about 90% of all the members on here. I think I'll go with the latter, and keep my wannabe bmw halos. Why? because they break necks just about everytime I drive with them on. but thanks for your opinion anyways.

Sorry didn't mean to hurt you. But everyone has their own tastes for mods and sometimes others don't like them...but its not my car.

Its YOUR car and you can put on whatever you like. It was just my opinion. Many people on the BMW forums dislike my blue led sidemarkers but I like them and that's what matters.

If only the angle eyes were 2 rings per headlight instead of 4 it might look cool like this TL with the red angles.

Yes I have 100 posts because I just got my TL. You are also correct I don't know much about modifying the TL yet... I am still gathering up information on future modifications.

I am glad you like your LED's. I wish people looked at my OEM angle eyes on my BMW but no one does ...maybe because its common on the BMW? Who knows? As long as you enjoy them that's what matters. Your car is very nicely modded. I hope one day my TL looks like yours. The corner bulb is yours switchback or just LED?

These are the only angle eyes that I think look cool on a TL.

To each their own, if you dont like what someone does to THEIR car click the back button and move on. Everyone works hard for their money and they can do whatever the heck they want with it. My personal opinion is that it looks pretty sick.

These are the only angle eyes that I think look cool on a TL.

it's cool man, i think i'll pull through and sleep ok tonight.

you wanna know the cool thing about those red halos? getting pulled over and given a fix-it ticket since they're illegal in so many ways.

also, i don't like the angle on those angel eyes. do you like the angle on those angels?

lastly, i don't like the BMW halos, they look like hollowed out frisbees stuffed in the headlight housing. too big and bulky.

Add the audi style led strips on the fogs and you got a total face. Eyebrows...angle eyes...buck teeth led DRL.

Ah well see you dislike them but I like them...you like your angles and I dislike them.

But I do disagree with your opinion of the BMW angles. Since they originated from BMW I think they make the best kind of angles. I really like the new LED ones. So bright you can see them in BRIGHT sunlight.

Missed your post. But yes I consider them copying BMW/Audi style. Lets say Acura had a new light idea. It was very cool and looked unique. Then you saw Lexus and Infiniti copying it...would you like it? I wouldn't.

What if you saw some trash car with your unique lights..would you like it?

I read a little on the DEI 528T pulse timer relay and its wiring on this link: http://www.hayabusa.org/forum/electr...lay-timer.html

Do those who have it installed recall the wiring? It has 6 wires coming out of which it looks like the blue is loop, brown is not used...

It looks like yellow and red tie together for the +, so I tap that into the wiper motor green power wire. Black goes to - or ground. Not sure where orange would go???

Thanks for the great info and tips!!! This forum is awesome!!!
