Yea I know, you convinced me. I realized that although I actually prefer the thin, less bright look of the CFLs, I believe the LED units will be a lot more reliable. As noted by JnC earlier in this thread.

^Aaron is using a re-soldered version of the Orion v2, if I'm remembering correctly.

lucnex you just have to resolder the connection on the actual angel eye/ring itself at the top where the + and - wires intersect. THAT is where the problem lies with the orion v2 models. a weak connection.

Aaron, your Orions, 70 or 80mm? How much light output do they block?

I didnt realize this thread was still running. The problem was figured out 2 summers ago I thought. As JnC mentioned. Here are 2 videos that one of our other members made.

Sorry guys don't know why it posted like that... I tried to fix it but couldn't. There's 2 videos there showing the weak point. What I want to know is for you guys who pre-emptively soldered this junction how long have you been problem free and how many hours a day do you use them?

And I think these 2 threads should be merged so I'll leave it up to a moderator. Stevie B... where are you? LoL

Has anyone here used the newish Morimoto units? What size TRULY fits best? 70mm or 80mm? With the 80mm LED units, is the outer dimension to large to fit in the headlight? With the 70mm, how much projector light is blocked?

Calling JnC!

And yes Justn, I searched.... :P

I have been using these on the 4G for a while now without any issue.

The 70mm will fit in the bezel, the 80 will fit the silver shroud with a whole bunch of trimming. Here is how the 70mm one looks like.

Excellent. Thanks for the answer. I guess I'm just worried the inner diameter will block some of the light.
