Talking American Made

I read an article last night about Honda/Acura as a Japanese made import. It was either on msn.com or aol.com. I wish I had the link to show you, but it said that:

If your vin # starts with a 1, 4, or 5 the car was made/assembled in the USA.

Mine is a 1 and I am American.

2G TL was the last one made in Japan, who ever has owned a 2G TL in the past knows that the built/material quality is eons better in the Japanese made TL compared to the US made, sad but true.

TSX and RL are Japan.

I believe the MDX may be too, or Canada.

RDX is built at the same plant as the CRV, and I think is US-made too.

The OP never mentioned a TL specifically in his post, so I'm not sure this was a "fail"
as you call it

You see.......

Ya know........

2 years ago before I got the brand new '06 Acura TL (6MT) I thought the TL cars are made in Japan.... it was my first Acura I ever gotten... I had great expectations.... I assumed that these cars are made with very high quality parts and assemblies were done like Lexus(all year models) and Infiniti (90's models i.e. G20, J30, Q45) but I was dead wrong....... I realized my Acura was built like crap..... lots of cheap materials used and the assembly seems terrible. I felt a lot of cheap plastics on dash, the door steps looked cheap, etc.. There are large uneven gaps in the door seams, interior between the dash and the door panels, the leather seats weren't that good quality either. Even MORE importantly, the mechanical issue.... difficulty engaging into 3rd gear (typical 3rd gear synchro problem due to fuc.ked up engineering and craftsmanship done by American factories ... also the lazy and lousy union labors cause even more problems. Union labors and management = builds f#@ked up cars...... I've got so furious that I got the Acura. If I knew these cars were built in America then I wouldn't have bought it. Good thing was I leased it when I got the '06 TL.... After 1 and 1/2 year of use I couldn't stand it. I got so fed up with the car I wanted to get rid of it...... Lexus dealer helped me get out of the lease and sold me the...... REAL car.... IS350, purely made in Japan, with top-notch build quality and QC..... the parts are premium, every little bits are made of high quality and paid a lot of attention to detail. The gaps are tight and even. I feel like I'm home now. THIS is how it should be....... I have sworn to God I will never buy Acura and Honda cars..... Yup.... Honda cars are made in America too. Go check the vin #.

What the hell I'm tryin to say is, STAY THE F#@K AWAY FROM AMERICAN, CANADIAN, CHINESE, and EUROPEAN made cars....

The only truely well built top notch cars are from JAPAN and KOREA(only the new Genesis models). Look for the letter beginning with "J" in the vin number to verify... or "K" for Korean. These cars are built like gold....

lolz...........

Oh.... and if you MUST have a Toyota or Honda and want "true" build quality the only way is to fly over to Japan and purchase one there. Those are made in "Japan". Or special order it and have it shipped to you if you live in the states... There are no exceptions.

Though if you are getting a car like Honda S2000 no need to worry. Those are made in Japan anyway.....

lolz....

so acording to your logic Hyundai and Kia build better quality cars than BMW, Audi, and Mercedes?

In terms of reliability, yes. But the Genesis cars will be just as good as the Mercedes and BMW's fit and finish, or better. Reliability will be far better.

Also note that when I say "build quality" I am also referring to reliability of the vehicle. The fit and finish maybe be better on the Mercedes and BMWs but the reliability is plain shucks....

My signature tells you guys what I am driving. Plus it was interesting to learn from you guys that not all Acuras are assembled in the USA.

I am just greatful that Acura is bringing jobs to the USA. I was feeling a little guilty driving an import with the way the economy is now.

Acutally your signature DOESN'T say what your driving. Is it a TSX or TL?

TL = OH. I almost purchased RL just because of that, but my mom has Highlander which is made by Japs and it's already at 30k having problems, so you never know. They all suck. I keep cars just 2-3 yrs. for that reason. my 05 oddysey is giving problems as well. replaced trans on 99 oddysey at 70k mi.

I'm verryyy sure that the TL is made here just look at the sticker if you still have it most of the parts are American, and assemble here as well. The only part i believe that is Foreign is the transmission. THink about it labor in Japan is way more expensive than here in America it wouldn't make economical sense it import it with high labor cost
