am i exaggerating?

hey guys so today i was parked and someone hit my bumper no biggie, a scratch on my front bumper and a small paint chip on my front bumper, not really noticeable unless you look for it. anyways so im like can i see your insurance because ive been screwed over before i just wanted to make sure i wasnt missing anything later. besides i wasnt even going to involve them i just wanted them to buff the area so the scratch would come out. anyways they said they were getting something and tried to bolt on me but i caught them. they said thye didnt do anything so i was like why did you bolt on me then. anyways i got there info down after catching up to them am i exaggerating?

No. Call the cops, what they did is fleeing the scene of an accident and it's illegal.

YOU SHOULD ALWAYS ALWAYS CALL THE COPS

even if you decide not to involve insurance you still have a police report of what occured

I'm a firm believer in this. I've had two bad experiences. First one - didn't call the cops and the guy wasn't insured. Not that he magically would have had insurance, but I had to go through the whole court process to get a judgement against him (which I doubt I will ever see by the way)

And I got hit by a guy that said he did nothing wrong and left the scene. It was after work, so there was a buddy of mine just behind me. We blocked him in and called the cops. He never did respond to insurance calls - so they ended up awarding me the damages because he told the cops "I wish he wouldn't have called you - I have a cement truck on the way to my house as we speak". Insurance thought that was an odd statement and said "guilty"

call the police while you are going after them and say it's a hit and run.

Sometimes calling the cops doesn't even help.
This guy hit me, he had a license and insurance card. I assumed the cops checked that everything was valid. I go to put in a claim, everything was fake.

no way, ur exaggerating. i got hit while i was parked, about a month ago too. i called 911, what the lady thought was gonna just be a buffing out job, turned out to be 445 or something like that. Because she cracked my bumper and the whole bumper had to be repainted. So better safe then sorry. ALWAYS CALL 911 AFTER AN ACCIDENT. Especially if it wasnt ur fault.
