Almost TL owner with a few questions
Hey guys,
Im about to buy a 07 NBP TL type S. im not very filmiar with this car yet, im wondering other then the engine and the interior of the 04-08 TL? this type s also does not come with the aspec lip kit.
are there any differences in the body of the type s and non type s...
are all the body parts for 04-08 the same?
i was told the the aspec lip kit is really just the front and back...the sides are the same?
also, biggest question is the rims for the type s is bigger?
thanks
i know i should be searching for this but im really busy at work and might be buying this car tonight.

no, rims are 17 inches.which is the same as the base models. 17 inches.
the body is the same. the bumpers are not. (type-s front bumper is different than 07-08 base, and 04-06.)
tail lights are all interchangeable.
suspension is all interchangeable.
there is a difference in aspec sides.

thanks guys, so here is the case....
his type s, as of right now sits on some aftermarket rims, apparently his oem type s rims were stolen. he showed me a pic of the car sitting on stands, it was sad to see...
anyways his car has brembo brakes on the front, which then he had to use spacers on so it will fit the after market rims....he mentioned that i should eventually get longer studs because the nuts right now are only using 3/4 of the oem stud.....im not very good with playing around with this stuff.....i should be, but never owned a car or been in a situation where i had to play around with this.....
thanks guys
thanks for this info, im just sold my IS250 (not DD) and now looking for a DD until i buy a ISF in spring....

^no.
you won't need spacers with OEM wheels. they clear the brembos.

^no. all 04-08 oem TL wheels will fit. whether they're 04-06 base, 07-08 base, or 07-08 type-s.

he put on rims, and in order for the rims to clear the brake caliper he used spacers....now with the spacers on the lug nuts he says only is on 3/4 of the way...so he recommends either getting the spacer kit or get extended studs for down the road just to be safe........
im buying this car 1.5 hours away....do you think it is safe to drive this knowing the front nuts are 3/4 on......
im asking if the oem (non type s) rims fits is because i might find a set to put on for the winter and throw these stupid tenzo r rims out....the OEM 04-08 rims are much cheaper and easyier to find here up in milwaukee/chicago
i think what i will do is try to drive it back carefully and extended studs or even get spacer kit's for the fronts and use these wheels for winter....once summer hits i'll look for better wheels......

im pretty sure the stock 04-06 and 07-08 TL wheels dont clean brembos..you would need to get the stock type s wheels. there was a set on craigslist here in chicago or 800 bucks last week. if you get the stock wheels, you can take the spacers off and you dont need longer lugs.
actually even if you get another set of aftermarket wheels, you probably still wont need spacers or longer lugs. just have to get wheels that have the correct offset like ronjons and your set.
but either way you should be safe driving the car home, as im sure he has been driving the car in its current state for a little while.
hope this helps
