You will have to reload your avatar, and if you visit other forums, such as CL, TSX, etc, you will have to reload it in each forum you visit.

Question

Without the rep power. How can you tell a posters post is legit or not?

Setting up a new look isn't TOO much work (don't get me wrong, it's a lot of work... just not TOO bad), but converting all existing documents, databases, etc. to work with the new system is. Usually, something other than the simple urge to change prompts a makeover like this. For example, they may have found vBulletin to be cheaper (I'm not sure what they were using before) or easier to maintain, they may have had compatibility issues with something new that they wanted to implement, etc. I'm sure that they'll spill more information when they get a chance. Having "been there," I can honestly say that I feel they did a great job doing the changeover in such a short amount of time, and they did a GREAT job communicating what was up while the site was down.

Having said all of that, I'm a bit surprised that they got rid of the rep power. A lot of people liked that, although I'm sure from a moderator perspective, it was probably more trouble than it was worth (case in point: the "Mad Holiday Negative Rep Poster").

EDIT: Oops... I see now, that we're supposed to be posting this kind of stuff in this thread, instead.

In the other thread it says that they are still working on things and that they have more to do. Give them some time.

i understand that (and i posted in the other, saying i started this one because i did not see the other, it should be a Sticky). these items should not have been affected. but i understand they are working on it...

adding Avatars back in fails...... seems like a major overhaul that went sour.

I agree. The old format look much more "classy", in keeping with the classiness of the TL.

REP Points Are Gone --- Avatars Too?

I uploaded / replaced my avatar this morning. Not only are all the avatars gone, but now versus this morning there's no place under my User CP/Account to specify one.

Are avatars going the way of Rep Points? If so, it corresponds with last week's death of the creator of mine, R.I.P. Franky Freas:

Funny, at home on the LCD monitor it is pink (and the laptop) at work on a CRT it is earthy brown.

Ramblings is now moved and consolidated under OFF TOPIC at the top of your screen.

By the time you read this, it will have been moved there, thus making it easy to find.

As to avatars? I'll have to look into it. I don't have a definitive answer for you as this is a work in progress. Be patient.

Avatars have been turned off for the moment.

we should have them turned back on this evening.

if the color looks Pink, it is a calibration problem with your monitor.

On a good monitor, the color scheme is a light tan, and sandy brown combination...no Pink whatsoever.

thanks.

Question Website changes

Now that the rep points are gone, can we finally leave the website alone? Every time the website changes, it's down for hours if not days, there are problems logging in, and it's just a pain in the butt to keep logging in again and again with each computer in my collection. There was nothing wrong with the old website, so PLEASE leave this one alone.

I think (correction HOPE) that this is still a work in progress. The Pink background is absolutely ridiculous. Before anyone tells me to adjust the color,I will not adjust the color so that one website (which used to be attractive in white/blue/black) does not appear pink on my laptop, work pc, and home pc.

Please for the love of all that is sacred GET RID OF THIS COLOR SCHEME

uh - I second that. I am all for change and improvement, but the color is :ghey: and I am not too fond of the ACURAZINE in Orange either. Black and white was best. Just my 2 cents.

...Graphics still don't work. So I will have to describe...you know the pink guy with the limp wrist, that was inserted regarding the color of the site.

Do the actual members have any say or vote towards site design?

Maybe we need a suggestion box.

Get serious.

The website has been down for days only TWICE. No need to exagerate only to get your point across.

Only serves to make your opinion seem invalid.

----------

Anyway, I'm not sure why in the world this thread was left open for so long since moderators were explicitly told to direct everyone to the official discussion where all questions were being answered.

But... since obviously they don't listen to me... I'll chime in.

I agree, the color scheme on the forum sucks. and Yes... we have some problems. We made a lot of upgrades, security patches, merged PM's, merged Ramblings, etc etc etc.

The frontpage www.acurazine.com looks great IMO. Lots of positive comments. But yes, it doesnt work for the forums.

I am progressing along on a refreshed theme, and it will be available later this week. There will be little (30 min maybe) to no downtime associated with this re-style.

So stick round for a few days, let me get something final in place, and then well gouge opinions.

For now though, I started out saying this design was in no way final. That message would have been broadcasted clearly had moderators directed you towards the appropriate spot. I apologize for that.

Honestly though, there is absolutely no need to be hostile. These types of comments make me want to shut this place down.

I am one person, with a very busy life. I cannot satisfy everyone. This website is provided free of charge as a hobby and for your enjoyment. I think from now on, the comments box will have a fee associated with it...

If you wish to make demands, you have to pay for that right first
