Air and cabin filters
I have an 07 TL (93K miles) with free oil changes from the dealer Can someone tell me how to change the air and cabin fiters on my own? I hate paying the dealer for something I know I can do myself.

You'll want to go to the 'Garage' which has all types of information there. You'll see a big link in the main forum view- here's a link to the garage: https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-2004-2008-93/3g-tl-service-department-aka-garage-questions-answers-check-here-first-553557/
There are entries for replacing both filters. For the cabin filter, there is a popular modification that you do to make it much easier the next time the filter needs changing that involves cutting an access hole in the back (not visible normally) part of the glove box.
Search the garage topics and you'll find all types of great information.

I thought it was easy, too. I had to tape up my NAPA filter, though. It was bent and did not fit in the tray properly. I would spend the money to get the filter from Acura but not the installation.

The engine air filter is simple as long as you have an extension for your socket - and use a nutdriver. The thing you need to do with the upper housing of the engine air filter is to unfasten the electrical conduit which runs across the rear of the housing before you try to raise the housing.
The cabin air filter is a PITA to change in my opinion. Extremely poor design on Acura's part, you have to wonder what the hell they were thinking.

They were probably thinking that they would make it as much a PITA as possible to discourage people from doing it themselves so dealers would make more money.

Here is a good 2005+ cabin filter replacement thread:

Buy them from Honda. They are always cheaper. Exact same part numbers, so you know it's the right thing.
Places like HondaPartsNow.com, HondaPartsDeals.com (-$10 w/ coupon Honda-Tech10) and HondaAutomotiveParts.com offer amazing deals that no local dealer can touch. I just ordered both these parts from HondaPartsNow and it came to $44.70 shipped ($10.43 shipping).
Also try calling the parts department at DCH Honda of Lemon Grove (a major eBay Honda parts seller). They can get anything and are cheaper than the other 3 on both parts and shipping (from CA to Vegas anyways). They will take your credit card right over the phone and have excellent customer service. (877) 929-0202.

If you cut out the glovebox housing as many people on this site do, the change out would literally take 1 minute and you wouldn't have to remove & disconnect ANYTHING besides the filter cartidge. In fact it would probably take you longer to get the filter out of the packaging...

The air filter (17220-RDA-A00) doesn't fit a 2007 TL. At least, not mine. I just bought that air filter at a local Honda dealer ($32.78 ). It is different than the one I just removed from my 2007 TL. The TL's air filter has one corner "shaved" off, so it is not a complete rectangle. The one I bought from the dealer today is a complete rectangle. I think that sale guy mixed up the filter. After researching online, the part# for a 2007-2008 TL's air filter is 17220-RDA-A10. Going to both dealers tomorrow.
My air filter, after 22,000 miles, is filthy!

No, you don't. Removing it might make things easier. I just removed my air filter without removing the conduit. It takes a few minutes of wiggle things around. The air filter housing bolts can be un-tightened with a long Phillips screw driver. I supplemented the screw driver with sockets.

Let me put it this way. On both my '04 manual and my '05 automatic TL's, this little section of plastic conduit has to be separated from the upper housing in order for me to remove/install an air filter element. This is quite simple since they are affixed to the housing by little "compression" clips. Without doing this, there is not enough slack, or excess, in the conduit to allow the upper housing to be raised high enough for filter access.
That is how it is with my two TL's.

I don't understand what you mean by these two sentences since they seem be mutually exclusive when viewed in the context of my post about this.

Try this with that conduit. Instead of trying to pull it up and/or twist it loose, move it back towards the engine in a straight line. The housing receptacle for these two clips is open at the rear, so moving the clips rearward works.

Yeah, I know they are supposed to pull back towards the engine. I just couldn't get them to budge. They should have built the dips into the bottom half of the air-box instead of the top. They also could have designed a better dashboard.... Oh well!

Air filter replacement direction for a 07 TL: unscrew all four bolts with a screw driver (or socket if you have extension). Lift the top of the housing (the furthest point from the engine should be lifted more than the opposite end) and push toward engine until the air filter can be removed. Put in new air filter (blue side faces toward the ground) and replace and secure the housing top. You are done.
No need to unclip the bundle of wire attached to the end of the air filter housing top.
All in all, it took me five minutes.

2008 TL Air Fitler
Hey Guys,
I went to O'Reilly Auto Parts and Auto Zone neither one of them will order the filter even thou their computers give part number etc.
Is this a dealer item?

I've been using the Purolator filters (engine: A25585, cabin: C35519) for several years now. For the engine filter, make sure you get the one made in Israel and not Mexico... it appears to be made better. And with the cabin filter, you may have to trim the edges slightly with a pair of scissors to get a good fit in the holder.
