Air bag vizor labels
Air bag vizor labels
I own a 2005 TL. I want to remove the rectangular air bag warning lables that are on the sun vizors and leave the vizor fabic looking like the lables were never there. After the labels are removed from the vizor fabric I want to remove the warning lables/decals from the backs of the vizor mirrors and leave them looking like the lables/decals werer never there. I would apprecite hearing from owners who have successfully removed these lables.
You will have a long wait. To the best of my knowledge, no one has ever successfully removed the labels from the visor fabric. The best anyone has ever come up with was to find some matching material, cut it to fit, and place it over the offending labels.
Here's a couple of old threads on this subject

Ron is right - and in the US, also think about re-sale. If you willfully deface those labels, sell the car, you might be culpable in this litigious society. Is it worth it.
BTW, I hate them too. - I know some have stripped off the paint on vinyl ones, then used matching interior paint to restore the proper "look". If they really bug you, I would search for a close match in the material - I suggest speaker grill cloth, which is usually the same synthetic cloth material as on the OE visors. Any good car upholstery shop should be able to do the sewing/fitting. It will likely not be cheap to do this right, however.
Try this - in my speaker projects, this is what I use for the custom designs I consult on:
http://www.acoustex.com/colorcardset.htm
Note: This company will send you a real color swatch, which you can credit against your order. There is a minimum length of cloth to buy, of course, but I suggest perhaps you could offer any remnants to others on the forum, for whatever consideration you desire, if any. Sometimes when i get a lot more of something that i need (like the anti-vibration felt discs i use for interior noises), I just send them to people if them send me the postage (SASE). Just a thought.

My understanding is that the Canadian TLs don't have airbag warnings under the visor. Can any of our northern neighbors confirm this?
If so we need to find a Canadian dealer that will ship parts south or else this may be a good opprotunity for an enterprising Canadian to make some money exporting Acura visors for a small fee.

Oh, the sinister subtlety of it - I always wondered what Pierre Trudeau was cooking up with his weekend forays into cannabis, while his wife cavorted in the States with the Rolling Stones and Bowie.

I"ve heard the Canadian version doesn't have the warning label...any Canadian TL owners reading this please let us know. I've also heard the price to buy a new sunvisor is several hundred dollars.....they don't bother me that much to spend the money to replace them, but they are sure freaking UGLY. I for one am tired of the US Government trying to protect me against myself.
That’s true. No Air Bag stickers just the warning sticker on the back. You could buy this to cover it,

My understanding is you have the yellow air bag warning on the side facing down when you have the visor up and the warning label for seatbelts and stuff on the back on the cover for the mirror. In Canada we only have the warning label for the seatbelts and stuff on the cover for the mirror. Is this right?
If so I would be willing to let my sun visors go for say…
. Your XM radio!
Any takers
