Aftermarket Navigation...advice.
Hi guys. I recently got my TL and intend on picking up a aftermarket navigation unit. I was looking at the Magellan 500, the delphi and the Garmin.
They all seem to go for less than 1000. I wanted to know if anyone knows if they are at least as good as the previous acura navigation systems in the old tl/cl. (01-04)--I would have loved the navi in the tl but it would have cost me like another 4-5k. (no acura dealer was willing to give me as much for my trade-in that had a navi-tl) Any input would be appreciated.

Here's a recent thread on your question: Aftermarket Navigation.
yep..
I saw that link... I was hoping someone may also be able to comment on how it compares to the current/previous navigation system of the TL. I really liked the idea of being able to bookmark a location, sort POI's by distance and have a running history of previous destinations. I wonder if the garmin or magellan can do those things...I was thinking of mounting it right where the clock is.
I had a Garmin StreetPilot, and now own a Magellan 700, the hard drive version of the 500. Both are good systems, but neither have a screen size comparable to either 2nd or 3rd generation Acura systems. Garmin has the best mounting systems. Magellan only has one or two mounting options available, others being on terminal backorder. They both have features allowing you to keep track of previous destinations. The Magellan is easier to use... buy the video if you get a Garmin. I doubt you will be able to mount either in the place where your clock is. They come with either dash mounts, windshield mounts, or air conditioning vent mounts (the worst). I would rate my TL's system at about two or three times better than the one you are looking to buy. However, I still use them in my vehicles that don't have navigation built in.
