Aftermarket Heeltoe Switchblade Keys

I recently discovered that heeltoe actually sales new "switchblade keys" for our cars...which are programmable and etc...I want a new one because the housing for my *memory 1" key is dinged and nicked up from previous owner...and I thought it'd be nice to have a new one...even though my "memory 2" is in perfect condition...here is the link

http://www.heeltoeauto.com/Fastline-...-pr-64771.html

Just for one key is $150 thats already pre-milled and ready for programming(which if you send them your pre-existing one, they can take the chip out and put it in the new one for additoanl $39)...also $30(which is included in my $150 price) for insurance to insure it works with the locks etc...

Has anyone done this thru them? How much would dealer cost to do this as well?

Any input is appreciative.

Awesome...everything I read makes it more legit...did you go to the dealer to have it programmed or what?

I'm in the process of getting mine. I just have to send them one of my keys and fobs, and I'll be set. As far as pricing, my dealer was charging me close to $225 for the same exact process. At Heeltoe, it's a lot cheaper as you can see.

i dunno if this works for the TL keys but i used to have an accord and got a switchblade key for that. it was only 19.90 shipped from ebay for the key and free cutting at my dealership. just swapped out the internals of my accord key to the switchblade.

that being said, im not sure if the ebay switchblade will fit the TL key internals, but might be worth a try

Yes, I went to my local dealer for programming. Took them less than 5 minutes to do it. I didn't have heeltoe do it because I needed an extra fob. They have excellent customer service should u have any problems!

Sir Drake, I have a set of cut keys but I didnt get it through Heeltoe. I did it a while ago through someone who first started milling the keys here on Acurazine. I cant remember his name. I do remember I purchased my key through a dealer and I sent him my switchblade key and he milled the key for me. I dont remember having to remove any chip out of any keys. Once I recieved my milled key I took it to Smithtown Acura to have them cut my keys manually and they reprogramed my key for free. However my car is an 05 so i dont know if things changed for the 07 keys. Does the 07 model already come with the switchblade keys? Or does the 07 still have the keyfob like the 05?

Definitely.

And another reason I went through Heeltoe is because of the convenience. Do you really want to buy a switchblade key from ebay (or some other place), send your key out to be milled by someone else, wait for it to come back, then go to the dealership to have it cut and reprogrammed? That seems like a lot of running around to do. With Heeltoe, you send one of your keys and fobs in (I have two sets so it doesn't bother me to give one up), and you get your switchblade key shipped to you fully functional on your car. No hassle. Not to mention the headache it is to go to the dealership many times. I try to avoid going there. That's why I chose Heeltoe.

My vehicle only came with the Memory 2 key. I want a new one with Memory 1 but it's crazy expensive for a new key.

I got my switchblade key from Heeltoe for my 06. They got it done and sent back to me within a week. Quality is excellent. I'm wondering since you are not converting the key to an 04-06, could you just by another key and switch the internal parts out along with the actual key? I would see if that is possible, cause keys are only $60.

Drake, since you have a 07, you should be fine with getting a replacement through your Acura dealership or any Acura dealership for cheaper (ballpark around $70 with or without shipping) than Heeltoe's since his milling is for the previous years who need it milled since I believe your key is the same as mine: laser cut from the blank metal.

The picture in the link you provided is what the milling looks like/leads to since the older model keys are like that.

How much did Don Carlton charge? I need a new key and I am thinking of ordering from Heeltoe and using Don Carlton to programme.

I have a 04 Acura TL with the 07 switchblade key. I ordered the switchblade key premilled from heel toe for $120 i believe. After i received the key, i went to a local locksmith shop (called them first to make sure they know how to cut/program the switchblade) took them about 10 mins to cut and programmed the key. Costed me like $35.00. It works perfectly. They cloned the chip from my original key and inserted it onto the switchblade, so both my key works. I would recommend you to make some calls to some locksmiths rather than go to the dealerships. Dealerships charge like $175-$250 and only one key would work after going to the dealerships.

I'm not understanding. If you have a 07 TL which already has a switchblade key why do you need to have your key milled. Correct me if I am wrong. The only reason 04-06 keys are milled is due to our keys being thinner then the 07 and above. That said, if you need a new key for an 07 TL you can go directly to your "stealership" to purchase a new key and the price of the key comes with the key already cut. So why would someone with an 07 TL need to send the key out to be milled? Not trying to take business away from "Heeltoe" but it doesnt make sense to me. Can some please correct me if I am wrong.

My Acura dealer told me to make sure when having the keys cuts to have them cut the keys manually for 04-06 keys. I dont remember paying $175. for my dealer to cut my keys. Is that what the dealer quoted you? It's not a big deal to cut your keys manually. They use some code on the key and they match it up with your key to the milled key.

Mr HeelToe needs to do some serious spell check work on his switchblade key advertisement.
Just sayin'.........

Whoops, I see somebody had already mentioned the ad spelling.
I didn't mean to steal the intellectual property.......

And...... I spell horribly, so I'm certainly not holding myself up as any type of shining example. Of course, I don't have any ads out there either.

I would love to have one of those switchblade keys though some day. I think I ruined my odds of a discount......
