After putting v-power
Well after someone said ive done enough damage for putting 89 gas most of cars life(6,950miles), i put in 93 or 91v-power, then i decided to reset the ecu, cmeance told some to do it this way.
1.Turn on car shut everything off
2.turn car off
3.turn key 2 position 2
4.press the gas pedal for about 1min to the floor
5. turn off car
6.turn car on then go really fast.
I did this b/c i maybe only put 91 2-3 times. So the engine might have been used to 89(midgrade). I didn't have to put any codes in, nothing changed. I felt some power high-end, and low-end. The def feels better. Anyways thx alot.

It depends on where you live- what octane is sold
Im not sure if its altitude related only or other factors- but some areas get 91 others 93,,now this 94?
Who is the gas guru to enlighten us? DMZ? FirePR? fsttyms1?
The Shell gas is Tier 1 level quality- so are chevron/texaco and others
they have cleaning additives to keep the engine clean-
do a seafoam treatment, so the gasolines `maitenance doseage` is actually doing something for your money
It will clean slowly over 5000 miles,(according to chevron website re:techroline in the pump) or you can blast it clean with a variety of product choices,,bg44, seafoam, wynns or honda stuff
then the good brand pump gas keeps it all ~pretty clean~ for a year

Those are the only two gas stations I know of, so far, that sell 94 octane.
In Montreal I only go to Petro-Canada---which is close to home.
In Kitchener I only go to the Sunoco, again which is close to home.
On the highway/freeway---I will only look for Sunoco to fill up gas. If I'm in dire need of gas I will substitute for Shell V-Power or Esso 91 Octane.
If I'm in GTA I'd hunt down a Sunoco until I can't find one...
In Windsor I'll head to the Sunoco close to my aunt's.
Otherwise my baby goes to the same location using the same octane every-fill-up.

as for step 6. What do you mean "go really fast"? Like turn the car on, put it in drive and floor it and get it up to like 80?

Full of water...
i usually use Sunoco 94 or Shell v-power, just depends where i am at. i am in Michigan, and Sunoco is the only gas station i have seen with 94 octane, but my car seems to like it more than Shell...

the car learns how you drive and then sets the proper shift points and stuff based throttle position and what not. Like if you drive like a grandma all the time it will shift early and not have power, even with the throttle all the way down. If you drive like speed racer, the car will downshift as soon as you touch the throttle. That info was intended for a person who wanted their car to not be in grandma mode. I suggest you drive like you normally do.

while its true that gasoline only comes from a few refineries,
at the final mix point just before the tanker truck is where each brands secret sauce is added into the line
May be techroline or other, but thats the idea-- and what seperates the name brand from off brand, whats been added- or not~, to raise octane and reduce pre-ignition or clean the system too. Yes 89 and 91 or higher are actually 87 with booster and anti detonation stuff mixed in

when you pull the battery, you loose your presets, memory seat settings, etc. With the way the OP posted, you can reset the ECU without loosing all that stuff.

Makes sense. Thanks. But, it brings up something else. I disconnected my battery to remove it when installing my CAI. When everything was reconnected I had to provide the radio and nav codes but, I didn't lose my presets or memory settings, etc. How's that possible? The battery was out of the car for a few hours while I did the install and some other things.

Im planning on seafoaming my car and then Ill jump on the wagon with the V-power shell gas. Maybe I can get the 15 MPG back to 20-21 where it was.

Seafoam it and remember to change you air-filter if you are near a 30K interval. It should get back up. Also check the air pressure in your tires, should be a COLD reading. Read it after the car has been sitting overnight to insure the tire is not warm.

Out here on the west coast, Chevron sells 94 octane, and Shell V-Power is only 91 octane. I always put 94 in my cars, and will only resort to Shell V-Power as my second choice, if there are no Chevron stations nearby.
In Canada it'll either be Petro-Canada or Sunoco.
Those are the only two gas stations I know of, so far, that sell 94 octane.

Since I don't know what those are, I'm going to go with no. Just the battery sitting on the floor with a pile of other parts. I expected to lose everything by disconnecting the battery but, like I said, once I put the radio and nav codes in I realized that everything was intact. Could this mean my ecu was never actually reset? I can't imagine how since the battery was out of the car for so long.

ah ic ic. but i remeber someone telling me not to fill up with husky/mohawk because they are ethanol blend and our cars dont really like it.If you goto your owners manual on page 164 it will say that the fuel should not contain more than 10% ethanol.thats the main reason why i have stayed away from husky/mohawk.

Alright I'll say it.. the few times I threw in V-power from shell, I dunno but my car felt sluggish and it had less power IMO. I did get more gas mileage out of it, but sacrificed performance. Once I went back to BP I felt the difference right away in pepiness. The best out of all of em was Chevron, which I use when I'm down here in FL but in NY its strictly BP for me.

read about octane and why and what it means
dont worry about putting 94 in over 93- anything 91 or over is ok
Tier 1 quality brands will be better for the car- look on internet for more info on
Tier 1 gas
Ethanol- is the usa- govt mandated 10% ethanol be blended to ALL gasolines
They used to add MTBE but it was found to contaminate groundwater- bad for the Earth, so they made the rules change to ethanol.
There may be a few brands still using mtbe but it wont be much longer.
Car makers decided they could deal with 10% and not damage anything- the govt made that the rule...and the rest is your loss of performance and mileage,,,plus the general death of the corn industry
