After Market Shift Knobs for 6MT
After Market Shift Knobs for 6MT
I apologize in advance if this has been covered here. I looked and couldn't find a thread on it. It is late and I am tired so that didn't help. But if anyone could answer this question, I'd greatly appreciate it.
I recently purchased the Skunk2 shift knob. Is there a way to attach the 'boot' or whatever it is called to the knob? Or is it just supposed to hang there? With the stock knob, you have the clips, but I couldn't see any way to attach it to the Skunk2 knob.
Any help would be appreciated.
I used to come to this board quite a bit when I first bought my car - '04 TL, but I haven't been in awhile. I still love the car, though. It's a great car, and I plan on having it for several more years. I finally put the Comptech short shifter in today and was going to add the shift knob at the end when I discovered it doesn't seem to fit to well with the boot.

Hey rishuz,
I had this same problem when I put my Comptech S/S in, lol. I wish you would have posted sooner...the only way to hold up your shift boot is to once again disassemble the area which you did to install the S/S. Once you do that, get some zip-ties, and tie it/them around the actual shifter stalk. Make sure the tie(s) are strong enough to not slip down. Reassemble the center console, twist your Skunk2 shift knob on, and your set!
Hope this helps!
