After 5 years of being a member time for me to say goodbye due to flood damage
#81
I have an 04 Acura TL white with deep dish wheels and tints. Pretty decent ride and I had the same thing happen to me. Only I will rightfully admit, I am stupid; I had liability insurance only. I've been really upset about his loss. After having no payments for over 2 years and just last year I did the timing belt and full tune-up. After I drove in the water (which was on a road I'm familiar with and looked like a few inches) it turned out to be a lot more than I anticipated and was almost as high as your damn pictures when I drove through the deepest part. Ok kick me while I'm down. I made a big huge mistake. I went home, changed oil and filter 3x and then changed the sparkplugs, all after I shot the water out of the engine (after removing the spark plugs) The car ran fine but there was a tap and faint knocking sound. I assumed it was a rod, some other guy said it was a lifter. I heard dozens of part-time mechanics give me their assessment. Coils, lifters, condensation, corrosion ( water stayed in engine for one week). Anyhow, I kept driving. Then as I drive down the rode, with my son in the car, I hit about 4 or 5000 rpm and BANG CLINK POW BANG CLICK (sound of metal parts hitting ground) and then you see nothing but smoke out the rear windshield and my oil hitting the ground leaving a trail. Then she took her last breath. I thought about getting the full coverage and trying to pull fraud but I ain't a liar. I'm an honest guy. Now I need some good input on where to go from here. I've researched the price of remanufactured engines. Not sure on the price of labor. I definitely ruined the engine right? I don't know if I should just scrap out the car. Please help. Prices, engines, services, advice, knowledge and wisdom are all welcomed. If you want to say anything about my bad decisions, let me save you the effort, I'm a fuckin moron for driving through water and not having full coverage...now moving forward.
