I want to add additional key fobs, say to have either "TWO" memory #2 key fobs or "TWO" memory #1 key fobs. Acura parts dealer told me that CANNOT be done, I find that hard to believe. Has anybody done this successfully?

 

OK, I searched old threads & read for two hours & have not found an answer. So perhaps the dealer is right on this one. This is annoying why you can't have two keys with memory #1 or #2.

My kid is the same height as me, so his memory #1 seat, mirror, etc. settings suits me just fine. But my kid refuses to leave his #1 key on the counter for sharing. So I have to use my wife's key #2, her settings are totally useless to me.

My kid uses this car mostly, so settings are usually at memory#1. Each time I lock/unlock the car with key#2, settings would adjust from #1 to #2, so I have to manually push mem #1 on the door panel to adjust settings BACK TO mem #1. The motor is going to wear in no time.

 

Whose car is it? It's as simple as that....

 

Both cars are family cars, both (son & wife), refuses/reluctant to drive the mercedes...they prefer to drive the TL.

 

I have an 05 TL and I have two mem1 key fobs. The one that came stock w/ the car and the 07 S/B key.

 

one of the 151387468 messages that Ive recieved via my navi on my 08 said something about being able to pair multiple key fobs, unfortunaty I didnt pay any attention to it because it was useless info for me

 

I just got this message on my 08 this morning. It said that one could pair up to 4 remotes. However, I don't know if this feature is available for all TL's or is MY specific.

 

You didn't say what year you have, but the instructions in this thread from the 04 service manual say that the codes of up to three transmitters can be stored into the keyless receiver unit memory. (If a fourth code is stored, the code which was first input will be erased.)

The message for the 08 may be specific to that year or some earlier years but I don't know which years may be applicable.

 

Yes, I read that thread & my owner's manual said the same thing. That was why I didn't believe what the dealer said.

I went in with intention to get a 08 TL, but sales told me why not consider 07 TL, cause they are identical & with BIG discounts. But 07 Navi TL not available anymore, cause I just missed their free Navi promo...ALL 07 Navi TL are gone. The discount was so HUGE, I bought the 07 TL on the spot.
But regretting it now, cause it is NOT Navi.......

So the keys I have are the SB key fobs.
