Adaptive Cruise Control & Collision Mitigation System

I was browsing the Japanese Honda website and it's interesting to see that the current Inspire (Accord in Japan) looks to have what appears to be adaptive cruise control
check it out..

There also seems to be some kind of collision mitigation system:

I wonder why these features weren't incorporated into the '04 TL. After all, the TL is supposed to be a higher, more feature filled model over the Accord.

In the US, I think these features are only currently on higher end luxury marquees. It's surprising to see it in the Accord. I guess this car is pretty upscale in Japan.

I suppose the future TLs and the upcoming RL will get these features. Too bad it's not on this generation's TL.

The reason sometimes we don't get things in the US is because of legal liability. You see this in medicine, and user products.

Remember the Matrix phone in the first movie? It had an auto eject opeing mechanism. That phone came the US without the eject mechanism. I guess they were afraid of lawsuits if someone poked their eye out.

Anyone can sue anybody for anything so corporations cover their butts and don't brings things here.

I agree, but I cannot imagine too many lawsuits over the cruise control, since so many other cars have it.

Many higher end luxury cars here have adaptive cruise control.

To name a few:

Lexus LS430
Infiniti Q45
Mercedes E and S Class

even the Infiniti FX35/45 have it as an option

I think Mercedes also has some form of a collision mitigation system used in their US cars.

Idiocy, is exactly the reason. People will not understand it, or use it properly and then file a lawsuit.

Do you know how long other prominent nations have had "Auto Up" Windows?

But here, the government is protecting those people who are gonna gets their heads all squashed up in 'em and stuff. And then call Jeffery Fieger!

This is why these other technologies are tested overseas for years before making it here.

And the aforementioned stupid people.
