Acura Total Luxury Care Question

Does Acura Total Luxury Care offer similar benefits that AAA offers? It's time to renew my membership in AAA and was wondering if it's necessary now.

I used the TLC about 1 month after getting my 2000TL, flat tire. I also had AAA at the time so I called both. Acura ended up calling AAA, since I don't think they have their own people. So I got rid of AAA.

Does anyone know how long TLC will exist? Thanks.

BTW, AAA does provide some numerous discounts and trip tips/guidebooks. It's good to have it and it's not costly.

I think one good feature of AAA is if your in another auto and breakdown, AAA will cover you, even if your a passenger in your friend`s car

That is correct, but if you got a TL, why the heck would you be in someone else's car?

I have AAA Plus and have no intentions of canceling it even though both of our cars have their manufacturer's "total care" road service plans. I get some pretty decent discounts using AAA on hotels, eyeglasses, trip packages, etc.. For $40 a year, I feel much better having it.

AAA really comes handy to do a lot of things other than Auto Care. You can get maps, trip tiks, do DMV stuff at their offices and avoid long lines at DMV. Also get discounts on auto insurance if you are a member. I feel AAA to be more useful. Also AAA gives you 3 free calls a year and you can use Acura Care in case you need it after that. Having one new and one old car make me feel relieved to have AAA handy.

Maps ajnd trip tiks????

Great in 1977.. they would stamp little arrows on a long strip map for you to show you how to go.

2004... You can use Microsoft Streets and Trips, Your Nav or GPS,, or Mapblast.

If I'm flying to the other side of the country and renting a car (with no NAV), a map sure comes in handy. Addtionally, they provide booklets with hotel and restaurant information. The added discounts that a lot of hotels provide don't hurt either. Add that up over a two week vacation and the paltry sum AAA charges for membership begins to look like a steal.

MS Streets, Mapblast, etc. have yet to replace AAA by a long shot.

The TLC towing is provided by some off brand towing co. here in Cali. I used them once, and they took like 75 minutes to arrive where AAA will arrive in 30...AAA is way better and more reliable.
