Acura TL Type-S caliper cover

I tried looking for an answer, but couldn't find any real info.

Can someone please tell me where I can get the official brake caliper covers made by acura? I tried googling it, but also found nothing but brembo stuff lol

They look like this.

The type-s has brembo brakes in the front. That IS the caliper. You can find it at your favorite acura parts website.

First off welcome to Acurazine The calipers pictured are the Brembo calipers that can be found on the 07-08 Type S and the 04-06 base 6MT. Talk to your dealer or check Ebay. Hell, you may even get lucky and find them on here in the black market. Good luck with your search.

okay guys, the brembos on the TL are not "covers" they are actual brembo calipers that arent cheap and actually perform well. i dont think anyone makes brembo covers for the automatic base TL with non-brembo brakes, well i never seen it yet at least

It is brembo just with Acura logo from factory. Try eBay or even vendors here. They are kinda pricey..

I have seen caliper covers for cars, but I think that cheesy. I'd go with the real deal. Better braking power and safety.

Nope, Acura TL auto and manual were same price for 04-06. 07-08, manual was only available in type-s. For those years, type-s were also the same price for auto and manual.

I have seen in the past what he is talking about. I have seen caliper covers made out of very strong pliable rubber that goes on the caliper.

Cant tell U where I have seen them ???

Good Luck with your search.

Nope, you have to make custom mounting bracket or swap out for Type S or 6spd MT TL knuckle.

It's roughly an $1000 - $1200 transition.

Found these formed aluminum caliper covers, but they don't have them for the 3G non-Brembo TL. Someone in San Diego needs to hook up with these guys to get fit so they can make them.

First off why would anyone think that a manufacturer would put covers over brake calipers...never heard of that or know of any cars that have fake covers. Secondly, those caliper covers look horrendous. Even if you do get caliper covers the rotors are tiny on the TL and it would just look goofy. Atleast thats my opinion :-)

i put rear caliper covers on mine but they don't look out of place or cheap or gaudy. they make a bunch of different kinds out there and i painted these particular ones starfire pearl to match my front calipers.

i'm not trying to "fake" anything or trick anyone into thinking i have BBK on my car...i just think it looks nice is all.

RDX caliper covers, you don't pay too much attention, they're quite popular on this side of the forum...

Why do they make them? Because the little 1-pot calipers look like hell.

I have covers on my rear brakes as well. The only difference is I went with smaller caliper covers than Aaron did so it's more realistic.

I dunno, I guess I just never heard of an auto manufacturer putting fake caliper covers over the original small caliper. Thats like saying here we are going to pretend your car has better things than it really does. All the cars I have seen with large calipers really have large calipers because they have real high performance brakes. Plus, even if these caliper covers did a good job of immitating a large caliper, I can only imagine that it would look really weird on a small rotor. Typically big calipers means big rotors. Now if they were reasonably sized then I guess it could be a good idea, but if its ridiculously over sized and trying to replicate like a 6 piston caliper on a tiny rotor then that would be just weird.
I will start paying better attention on the forums here. I now know that Acura puts caliper covers on its RDX rear brakes

We fun at Aaron, it's not 6-pot...at least I don't think

I like it though, it flows and still looks nice.

The RDX covers are small enough to not be imitating a real BBK or the likes. They're just a flat cover with ACURA letters across them.

This is the front...

http://www.flickr.com/photos/87741887@N07/8421509639/http://www.flickr.com/photos/87741887@N07/8421509639/ by http://www.flickr.com/people/87741887@N07/, on Flickr

The rear is completely covered...

For anyone looking for the thread on these...sorry if it's a repost...
