Acura TL Type S 2008 80,000 Mile Service
Hey guys, just got back from the dealership at courtesy acura. I did my 80,000K Oil change, Transmission fluid flush and alignment.
after all the service I got a quote on what else that needs to be done.
I just want some of the people on the forums input on maybe wha t I should do
-Right front lower control arm knuckle and wheel bearing and hub that quoted 1500
- Right and left rear strut quoted 870
- Needs both rear cambers arms replaced quoted for 670
-Power steering pump replaced due to lack of pressure quoted at 620 with fluid replacement
I mean this is all going to be over thousands of dollars.
I wouldn't do it all at once but what do you guys think? Should i get the OEM Parts from somewhere else and have labor done elsewhere? Or get it all done at acura cause the quotes are rediculous . If so where are some places I should go to and where should i get some OEM Parts

the power steering pump is sound like BS to me, like they even measure the pressure. Looks like the dealer want you to spend crap load of money because they can't or having a hard time to align your car back within specs. I would pay or a mechanic friend to have another look at the item dealer listing below, if anything need to be replace you can always buying part online at acuraoemparts.com or Curry Acura (they are both vendor here in AZ). When you decide to fix the bucket list then I would heading over to Honda dealer to save you a bit on labor cost, and remember when you have something fix at the shop makes sure you ask to see the old part since they could just tell you that they fixed the problem but never replace the part.

Do not go at the stealership, go with the independent mechanic. Last time I went the stealership they wanted more than 4k to fix thing that needed attention. I went to independent honda mechanic and he found not one single problem.

Take it to an independent shop and ask them to look everything over as if you were going to buy it.
If they report the same things that the dealership did, look into having them fixed. If not then you know the dealership was full of crap.

DO NOT trust the dealer! Speaking from experience...I took my car in for a recall, so the dealer did a free inspection/report for recommended services to bring in some business.
They told me I need a brake fluid flush but little did they know I had that done a week earlier!

are any of these things exhibiting problems?
Wheel bearing and knuckle...really? My car's 8 years old with just under 10k miles less than you and i have had none of these problems. Unless you ran into a curb or something.
definitely get a 2nd opinion.

My 07' TLS now has 87,000 miles, none of those things required replacement, infact NOTHING has been replaced. I'm calling BS, dealers are hurting right now financially, they threw it out there to you hoping you'll go for it. They do it with most customers. I had a local honda dealer recently tell my wife she had to URGENTLY change the timing belt on her 05' civic with 70,000 miles, I called my friend who is a senior honda tech & he said: Tell her to pay for only the oil change & leave, they were trying to rip her off.

Are you male or female?
Please get a 2nd opinion from an independent mechanic, preferably one that has experience with Honda/Acura.
There's no reason to replace the LCA or Knuckle, unless they are bent or cracked. The bushings, ball joint, and wheel bearing are all replaceable. Was it impossible to get the front alignment within spec?
Did they show you oil/fluid leaking from the rear struts?
Are the rear camber arms bent or are the bushings torn?
Are you experiencing one of the following symptoms? These are the only ones listed along with low PS system pressure:
-Shock or vibration when the steering wheel is turned to full lock
-Uneven or rough steering
-Steering wheel kicks back during wide turns

^^^doesn't matter about gender, usually stealership trying to scare their customer and said the work is done but in reality there is nothing wrong with those part. I had seen a college kid got rip off by stealership by tell him BS and yet the kid just agree to had those service done.
