Acura TL-third gen air horn

Did anyone install a dual or triple air horn without the huge compressor? What brand? pics? Cost of install?

Anybody else? I have an old Wolo with 2 horns lying around. I also might try the Supertones since they should be plug and play.

Yes, I installed the hella air horn.
Had to remove the bumper to properly fit them.
I have both horns and compressor installed under the drivers headlight.
I also put a switch under the steering wheel that will allow me to use the factory horn or both factory and air horns.

Don't have pic's
and I installed them so no installation charge.

Do you recall how you wired it? In the past I've just tapped into stock wires and never had a fuse blow since I don't lay on it long. I'm thinking tap into the stock wire but use a relay so it's powered off the battery. Don't feel like having extra switches since it's not gonna be a train horn.

Get a train horn.....lol

Believe it or not, my wife was nagging me to install air horns in the TL.
Why?

We drive frequently to Indianapolis and if your familiar with the tunnels on the western side of PA, she loves blaring the air horns there.

I did use a relay for to power the air horns. Just like you said, so you potentially wont pop a fuse.
What sucked was the lack of room I had to install them. Especially since the plastic tube that accompanies the kit wasn't log enough.
So the easiest spot was right under the drivers headlight, by the air intake.

The only time I seem to use it is when I travel to NYC / Queens.

I don't recall the last time I used them while living in PA since people seem to drive normal

Are the Hella's the type that just drop in place of the stock horns or did you leave the stock ones in?

I had Hella twins on my old car LOVE and miss how those sounded. It's higher pitch than most people expect so not everyone will like them but I do. It's different and it's loud. Over here in NY you really need it once in awhile, you ALWAYS get the attention when appropriate. lol.

I wanted to place the horns as close to the front and audible but protected from direct water. I decided to place them sideways behind the lower grilles mounted behind the front bumper. The Hella ones are bright red though and would stand out and clash with my car's theme.

I bought the Wolo twins in chrome/black. I was concerned it wouldn't sound the same as the Hellas or have the same quality because it costs slightly less. They actually sound EXACTLY the same if anyone else is wondering. The horns are visible only if you're really looking for them but they blend in perfectly. I wired everything with a relay and no matter what I tried for 2hrs I couldn't get it to work. The horn has just one wire. So I wasn't sure if it was one of those setups where it is momentary, constant or whatever. I grounded it to the chassis. I tried all kinds of combinations of wiring to try and then I gave up.

I just literally plugged it in directly to the original horn wiring and it works fine. Yes this draws some heavy amps and I know this is not the ideal thing to do. But it's been working fine for 4+yrs now, no popped fuses, no problems. I don't intend to honk the horn more than 5 seconds at a time anyways. hehehe.

I don't think a sound clip would do justice. I could be wrong though.

I don't remember the exact name, I got them from Puerto Rico. A friend brought them back up for me when he was down there.

For now I'm gonna add in a Wolo Big Bad Max, should be easy enough to tap into the stock wire as trigger for the relay, then ground to body and run a hot to the battery. I used a Wolo Bad Boy in the past, they're pretty loud for what they are, compact, and cheap. The Big Bad Max is just a lower pitch, figured I'd give it a try. It should fit no problem by the air intake under the light, my resonator is gone since I have a CAI, I'm gonna shoot to mount it there.

With our stock horn system you don't need a relay. Just throw in an inline fuse or a higher amp fuse for the stock one.

The simple tap in method worked great, just installed my Wolo Big Bad Max. It doesn't weigh very much so I just ziptied it to the washer tank instead of making a hole or finding a spot for it. Positive is tapped off of the upper stock horn, negative is on a ring terminal on the bolt under the headlight.

No more wimpy Honda sound, more like a train than a truck but obviously not as loud.
