Acura TL P0741 -Tips and suggestions?
Hello - I need the Acura community expertise. I have the following symptoms on my 2005 TL- Mileage at 155k trouble free miles (until now) : (
Check ENG light on, Diagnostic code P0741, -Torque converter clutch solenoid OFF. There are no other codes present.
Car Trans fluid looks normal, and is proper level.
Trans fluid flushed 30k miles ago.(2 years)
The car does shift in a somewhat choppy manner, all gears are available and it drives almost normally, but you can tell the shifting is no longer smooth.
Questions:
What are my options before plunking down cash I don't have.
Drain and flush ATF fluid first ? Clean screens?
Replace the solenoid valve? What are the pressure switches-same as valve?
-Is this solenoid accessible for a "handy" consumer, or does it require significant expertise?. If I can do, it where is it located?
My gut tells me this could be it. The car drives too well in my opinion...for a trans failure.
Other recommendations?
In know the dealer will just ratchet this into a nice transmission replacement. I'd like to avoid this. THanks all for your help-it is appreciated!!
Best regards
Mike

I wanted to add one more symptom-I cleared the codes when this first occurred.
The check ENG Light did not come on for two weeks. Doesn't this indicated an intermittent failed solenoid?
If I had a significant transmission issue- I would have expected an immediate indication of the check ENG light.
